RE:What Do You Guys Think Of This?

They are not made to sign the contract with a gun pointed in their face, they have a choice and you will find 99% of employment contracts will have the same clause in them these day's, my last 4 jobs did anyway.
They have a choice about what? Whether they have to work for a living?
And if such a thing happened, you would be well advised to discuss your concerns with your other half instead, which is what the OP should have done with her kid. From a personal stand point I would certainly not want one on my home network equipment as there is no need for one, however if I came down with suspicious husband syndrome then I might well use a keyloger if required.
You can't expect a computer program to babysit your children.0 -
No, there is a difference in babysitting a child and keeping them safe, what if your 12 year old daughter was talking to some queer on the net who was grooming her for rape and murder? A "computer program" could well prevent that from ever occurring. They have a choice about what? Whether they have to work for a living?

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

A keylogger hardly prevents that.
Much better to educate your children about the dangers of the internet yourself. You can install all the parental controls you want, but there will be times when they're using someone else's computer, so they need to know how to stay safe online.
I know a woman who is ultra-protective of her kids, and won't even let them on the internet, supervised or not. They're going to grow up without having the slightest clue, so her efforts to protect them could very well harm them eventually.0 -
What did Mr Connor get banned for like?

He seemed alright most of the time, got a bit shirty from time to time but don't we all.I'd like to know that too; surely someone knows?Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? i might go around and take back all the thanks i have given Leopard now... dissing Yorkshire like that...
and if people don't take advice, and then want us to help repair what they've caused themselves, personally, i have nothing against that. We're here because we want to help, and also, it is our own time.
Spending an hour replying to someone, trying to repair something that people have told them not to do, isn't "our" fault. They were warned, and now, things are a bit screwy..
the put things back on topic a bit, my suggestion is to rebuild the PC back to factory settings, using the discs it came with, or the rebuild software on the hidden partition (if it was shop bought!). then you'll have a brand new windows install, with nothing on it, put some AV software on, put some parental control software on, and set up user accounts which are limited, and then the parental control software will limit the kids with anything you want to.
surely that is the best way to do things?

I have no problem helping anyone (upto a point)
But your taking too much on what ive wrote when you shouldnt be jumping to conclusions. All ive said is what she did. Its not that. Its how she went about trying to get help AFTER that got a few peoples backs up. The way she went about it and the way she approached us wasnt particularly nice and I got the distinct impression that all was not as it seemed.
And for the record. (Though I cant remember how exactly), I WAS trying to help..........:idea:0 -
