Thanks for the advice bham-dave, i will definately do that from now on if they continue to badger (cougar) me. I also noticed they don't like me doing more than one tranaction when using blinkies in each so i will pay 'all over the shop' from no on! Never thought about the commission aspect before, it might sound dense but i didn't realise they got commission. Basically then, it pays them to be nice to me, quite literally :D
AFAIK, No 7 staff get commission on No 7 products sold. I imagine other concessions have some similar deal. (That's only second-hand info from this forum.)

I was in a big Boots store before Xmas and this dried-up fishwife caught me innocently looking at the perfume display. She was prominently displaying her plastic-looking handbag and tried to involve me in a discussion on a new men's fragrance. Then I realised she was trying to flog me the men's fragrance with the promise of a cheap looking handbag. Silly old cow! :D

Obviously I deliberately wasted her time until she got bored and schlepped off.

Strangely enough, I have had this confirmed twice since Boxing day. Once by a No 7 SA herself.

And also by a SA from another concession, who offered to serve me at the No 7 counter and then said, 'Oh I wont serve you as you are buying No7 items and she will get the commission.'

  • Went into Boots in Canterbury (city centre) today and they had lots of reduced No7 skincare (by the tills). Got quite a few with blinkies. As most are just over 5 pounds, I think it makes more sense to get them separately, rather than in the 342 offer. Lots of Pantene sachets (on bottom shelf with Pantene shampoo). Also had the S & G admit it sets in, but on a different shelf to their main S & G shelf. Quite a few clearance things dotted around. For example, got some shaving foam and body wash for DH for about 50p, as well as an old No 7 GWP for men. Had a clearnace tag of 1.67, but scanned for free. There were lots of Olay GWPs. I got two and scanned them on SS tills without any problems.

All of their clearance toys were gone and lots and lots of empty shelves. Hope they fill them up for the 75% sale. In fact, looked a lot like Woolies in their final days. Saw lots of P & P white vanity case gift sets. Annoyed as rushed out to buy one on Boxing Day in 50% sale! Still lots of perfume gift sets, No 7 sets and R & M. Hoping that all of it will go to 75% off.

Also, on their clearance shelf (at the end of one obscure aisle, like they don't want you to find it), they had ROC intensive night cream sets for 4.99. HTH

Just off topic slightly, Canterbury M & S only reducing stuff atm down to 5 pounds, not down to 1 or 2 pounds like other places, but still a lot of ladies stuff available. Men's stuff down to one dismal rail, same as kids. Might pop in to look again when I pop in to Boots next Wednesday. We all live in hope! Am pleased with myself as walk into and around Boots is part of my new fitness regime..thus saving money on gym membership, although DH laughs at this and says I spend as much in Boots

The coffee shop in CS complex is handy for sorting out vouchers in between transactions and getting a second wind. I haven't been to Allerton Rd for years. I much prefer the bigger stores where the SA's know me. :p I am not mobile but parking there is a real nightmare, so not really worth the effort I think. Thats why the out of town stores are so much better.

Not many of us post but there are loads of lurkers (judging by the amount of stuff that flys off the shleves once something is posted here.

I think you do lurk for a while till you get the confidence to have a go yourself, and to be honest it takes a couple of weeks to get into it all then have a go with your vouchers in order and your eyes on where everything is and what to get. Goodness knows what the SA's thought of me wondering up isles picking things up and putting them back, then price checking things, but I have found the staff in Speke lovely and very helpful. Before this forum Boots was a place I went to a few times a year to get medicine and maybe the odd thing in the sale. I have to say I enjoy doing my shopping there now, now that I have been through the education process. I did most of my Christmas shopping there this year and I thought I got some good deals, everyone liked what they got and I got my nice points to spend in the sale, have even started to use the meal deals they are good value , and if I am stuck I can use good old . com its improved my computer skills no end finding out how to get rid of all the strange messages.
