Price of petrol and diesel

When i go into a supermarket to buy goods i get charged the price you see on the item or shelf ticket.
Unless of course it's something sold by weight, like meat or fish, or cheese, or vegetables, in which case the price you pay is rounded in exactly the same way as for fuel. Yes, if it's a sealed packet, it'll have a packet price, but that's still derived from a cost per unit weight (usually not to a round currency denomination).
While you have had some unnecessarily rude responses, I really think you are getting upset about nothing over the original issue.0 -
Tesco (Warndon) and Sainsburys are the cheapest around here at the moment at 83.9p unleaded. Tesco are also offering double clubcard points on petrol.lukebetteralone wrote: »i noticed the texacos and bp's in worcester have gone up 2-4p a litre too0 -
Hmm, I didn't notice the oil price increase significantly...

Local petrol prices have risen by 3-4p in the last week. Tesco and Sainsburys were the lowest then on the same day their prices shot up. So much for a competitive market :rolleyes:0 -
I cannot believe the reponses some people are giving here.
I too in a moment of boredom recently did wonder why fuel prices are advertised with a unlegitimate fraction of a pence. No other goods or services are priced like this (but I'm happy to be corrected). Some of the arguments used in advocating this flawed pricing system should in principle work the same way in pubs when ordering a pint (after all, do you actually ever get exactly a pint?).
However, the point is, the poster had a legitimate question and some of you are being silly in your responses. You wouldn't respond in the same way if you were talking to the poster to his face - so lets use this forum as if we are talking orally to people rather than acting the big man behind your screen.0 -
When you buy something, the shop owner does not by law have to give you change.
It is reasonably expected that you will be given change and that is the basis on which we work.
It's your fault for not having the correct amount.
If you can't give them 0.1p it aint their fault.
I'm not sure as it's been an age since I last bought fuel (the way things are going I may switch back to diesel), but don't they round down when it's 0.4p ?
Am I also alone in having on several occassions bought £20.01 worth of fuel with a £20 note ?0 -
