Well it obviously isn't to most normal people! If the OP is so concerned about this, then they should contact their MP, rather than whingeing on here!
Troll behaviour indeed the whining is being done more by yourself than anyone else.
I stated a point you failed to grasp it now i am "whingeing "
Correct me if i am wrong but this is the money saving expert forum where people gather to discuss topics.
It seems to be populated by a lot of posters who have on the whole but not exclusively done nothing but whinge about a reasonable post!!
I honestly am amazed at the sheer levels of hostility displayed to a new poster.
They are not constructive criticisms they are just belligerent
Shame on you !!!!0 -
Its not the 'farily simple concept' i'm having problems with.
Its everyone jumping down the OP's throat once someone else has done it. Its almost as if one person calls him a troll and everyone then thinks 'oooh someones started now I can continue'.
The post you made above is a really good explanation. Why couldnt you just write that the first time instead of trying to flame the OP?This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -

If someone came to the forum saying a shop had ripped them off would you also tell them that they should just contact the store instead of 'whingeing' on here?
I'm not having a personal go at you espresso. I've actually found most of your posts really useful.
I'd like to take the oppurtunity to apologise to apisto for the bad reception he has received. We're not all like this honest mate

Don't be so hostile everyone - join in the fun instead
Buy it six litres at a time, then you might make 0.4p profit. But not 16 or 26 or 36 or 46 etc, as 0.4p profit on a large fill-up isn't quite as good as on a small amount.
On the other hand, the fuel is metered in smaller units than are actually shown on the pump, so what happens if you go for 6.005 or 6.006 litres - do you get rounded up a penny at that point, or only when it reaches 6.007 or 6.010? Clearly a lot more in depth research is required, if anyone has an ambition to save more than 20 pence like this in the rest of their natural life. Should be interesting to see that the Weights and Measures says ... [contd p.94]0 -
When I put £10/£15/£20 of petrol in, everytime I have gone over say 1p,2p and even 3p the garage always let me off as I say I don't have any change. They understand that it's quite easily to over pump by a few pennies. So really I and most are not bother that petrol price per litre has a 0.9p as it's just pennies.0

Following Redux's comment I've been doing some sums.
At a current price of 82.9p/litre, Redux's suggested 6 litres of petrol would cost £4.974
Assuming the petrol station rounds such a price down you'll save 0.4p and drive off with 4.825ml of free petrol in your tank.:T
In a car which averages 35MPG this free petrol would take you on average 59.78metres.
The above figures are only valid if the pump dispenses exactly 6 litres.
If I remember correctly most pumps measure in 0.01 litre increments. In which case the actual amount delivered could vary by as much as 10ml. Whether this covers the range from 5.995 - 6.0049 or 6.000 to 6.0099 litres, we just don't know.
If it's 5.995 - 6.0049 litres, your presumed 0.4p/4.825ml of free petrol could actually be between 0.175ml less
than you've paid for and a further 5ml more
of free petrol. That would equate to your 35MPG example car covering between 9.85 metres less and 131.59 metres more than you'd expect.
If the petrol pumps' rounding method is on our side and they record 6.00 litres for deliveries up to 6.0099 litres, with a bit of perfectly judged nozzle-squeezing you could find yourself driving away with up to a whopping 14.825ml of free petrol - enough to take the mighty example-wagon 183.68 metres. :j0 -
