Cheap Parcel Delivery Thread Mk4
Comments

Does anyone know of a company that goes on weight rather than amount of parcels?
I want to send 2 possibly 3 boxes totalling approx 20kg, to the same address, but checking with the usual delivery companies, it seems to work out cheaper doing 2 or 3 seperate deliveries.Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

Parcelmonkey don't seem great value for bigger volume parcels.
For a 50cm x 50 x 50 10kg box they are £8.50 exVAT.
A 70cm x 50 x 50 20kg is £10.50 exVAT. Both are more expensive than some of the other established resellers.0 -
I think it would be better to package them as 1 unit.
Try www.parcelmonkey.co.uk for an instant quote though on both options.
Just how much do you own of that company? They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
I'm looking to send some stuff back to Australia. We are moving back there, but don't have much to send, so I'm wondering if courier will be cheaper than a shipping company.
Probably 4 small boxes (25x30x20) weighing 4-7kgs each.
(Or should I get bigger boxes and pack more into each one - reducing the number of boxes?)
Definately want door to door and want to try to avoid/minimise customs charges.
Thanks for any help/advice.
So far its becoming a toss-up between DHL via Transglobal express, Parcel monkey, Parcelforce and Wringtons.
Hard to find the extra customs charges that any of these guys might impose though - which is something to factor in.
My parcel(s) should be below the AUD$1000 threshold for duty so its just the customs processing charges.
Parcelforce don't charge unless your item is over AUD$1000, Transglobal express say there MAY be a charge of up to AUD$150 and the other two I don't know.
What's the difference between sending something parcelforce and sending by courier (forgive my ignorance). One goes by normal post and the other is delivered in a van? If Wringtons use normal post (like they say) then shouldn't there be no customs charges similar to Parcelforce or ordinary Royal Mail?
Any further thoughts/advice/experience welcome.
