OK folks - I need to draw breath yet again on blatty insce -
I have done everything in the exact Martin order and have sheets of comparisons b4 me, plus extras, plus records of all spoken follow-up quotes, checked against their em 'conf.s'(not necessarily the same as the comparison sheets are throwing up, hence the follow-up calls to the companies concerned.
I have also gone through the process for greasypalm, quidco, topcashback etc. but find the prices for the same companies agai don't hold up when applied via these. I've asked several companies if they raise prices to c/b sites, in order to offset, at least in part, the 'saving' offered via said cashback.
Further, when doing detailed checks, I'm given differing variables from those on the online form.
Worse, just now, learned from Swinton that 'towbar' counts against me as a modification!
I thought she was joking! - hadn't occurred to me to mention it or tick 'yes' box.
Will carry on now - I'm so weary of it all.
    ###########
Olive - no accidents, just    theft[dear mot took the first moments of shock on phone from me and made the kindest, most instinctive from-the-heart offer there and then, at a time when she, too, was still most desperate] from locked boot of locked car 24/10 last[CID letter, police file and Insce Co. letter = NCB unaffected]
. NZ Licence 1967(could get one at 15 then), UK since early 70's, no nasties of any sort....little car etc.etc.
Comprehensive but no extras - and have also done all the scouting for freebs and have pushed on 'pfone for same.

Olive, mot - if you would kindly furnish moi with policy for £4.99(BOGOF too please:rolleyes: ) I'll have it round to you in a barrerful of groats nowsies.

    Done!
    Tweaking earlier post:
Car Insce. Not cheapest[don't growl Martin - I did all your stuff and I am a great haggler, too], no cashback(except for a £20, which I pushed to dbl), finally, but shoved hard and had home contents + £20 off + £40 off and National Breakdown top grade but one, thrown in for £116.24, fully Comp = £9.68mthly without penalty for spread payments.

This actually represents 41 hrs' work: Sun 04>00h, Mon 04>0830h and 0730>00h, today 04>16h-ish.

Hope this seems alright Olive? Feels ok to me. Checked that there's no restricted repair garage list etc.etc. - also, any replacement vehicle would be for min 2 weeks, not max.3 days or 1 week as on other quoted b/d payable options.

sparrer, kettle on please for an anniversarial cuppa - we deserve it.

    Celebratory cuppa then Ampersand?

Not surprised you need a cuppa, we go to extraordinary lengths sometimes to save a tenner or so don't we?

Glad you got the policy you wanted/needed though, I think yours sounded more complex than mine is for a 10 yr old Japanese banger. I haven't actually bought mine yet either (I have 3 weeks to do so) as there's no room on the credit card I wish to use (air miles) and now I'm wondering if I can turn up an answer so quickly there must be a flaw, or maybe there's an even better bargain around the corner.......

(I haven't given up full stops for Easter, I'm merely thinking on my keyboard:o )

And as for the tonic, I've switched to calorie-free stuff......
But I really like the idea that a VeryStrongGin is less fattening than the wishy washy stuff that I usually consume :D

Almost forgot about pancakes, remembered at the last minute and had to pop to Mr S to get eggs  , also bought Humous :naughty::naughty: and when I got home I couldn't be bothered to make the batter :o
