  • Yes, it can be used for meat! You can dry anything you like - even liquids! :)

Just trying to picture what a dehydrated liquid looks like! Do you mean like making fruit leathers from puree?

Where do you keep yours then? It's really big and takes up loads of space!
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!

It's big, and unsure if I'll get it back in the box after it's been used, if it does that'll be easier to put in the cupboard. Those levels look quite fraglie.

Mine lives on the top shelf of the pantry. It does have a couple of boxes of cereal on top of it at the moment though :)

Quick question, probably seems silly to those who have used them before, if I'm only say using 2 trays, do I still have to put all the other trays on top before the lid ? :rotfl: just thinking reduce washing up that is all

Thanks Moggins, was hoping that was right but couldn't find it anywhere in the booklet thingy, think I'm just going to use 2 to test but didn't fancy washing them all again if I don't have to :D

Do these take up alot of energy/power? If they are going for 6 hours does it cost alot to run?

    Thanks!

250 watts I think it states on the box, but unsure if that is what it uses constantly, if it does that would cost me what, about 26p for 6 hours. The things I have in now will take about 13 hours for some, but that includes 5 trays of dried fruit, which I pay a fortune for in the shops but got the fruit very cheap. Will cost me max of 52p in electricity at a guess.

Just been having a nosey online at a few sites with dehydrator info on and some are up to 1000watts! Blooming heck!

    Thanks!

Depends what you pay for your electric per unit. Mine, as i have capped price is about 8p per unit (unit being 1 kw or the same as 1000w). So how i work it out is 250w is a quarter of a unit so a quarter of 8p is 2p. 2p per hour, so 6 hours would cost 12p. When the wattage on an item is quoted it is per hour. So thats how i always work it out.

Hope i havent worded it so its too confusing.
