You should be able to claim back from your bank if you paid by Credit Card or Visa Debit. Good luck

Just to warn you that yesterday I logged on to bebe amor to chase up delivery of a silvercross pram which I had paid £500 for a month ago only to learn that I wouldn't be getting one as the company had gone into liquidation on friday. Hope not too many are in the same boat as me. Good Luck

Read the rest of the thread... .Bebe Amor have gone into Liquidation.

If you paid by Credit Card, contact your Card company and inform them of the issues.

If you paid via Debit Card, and it's a Visa, contact your bank and request a Chargeback.

If you paid by any other means, I'm afraid you're highly unlikely to receive any money back.

All I can suggest is you contact the Liquidators (listed on https://www.bebe-amor.co.uk) and get yourself added to the Creditors list.

I've resigned myself to the fact I'll never be seeing the £109 ever again :(

Well, that will teach me to check up on companies before I buy.

We purchased a beautiful cot-bed to the tune of just under £600.

We don't do credit, loans or allow the bank to charge us to spend our own money, we paid by debit card, not a visa...

So we are stuffed.

Nasty pasties.

At least we managed to find the actual makers of the cot bed and can still get one, by like, next week. *slaps forehead in self disgust*

That'll teach me.

The scenario you give for people losing their money is just as likely to happen if an ebay seller goes bust or if an established shop/website goes bust but if you pay by credit card, you usually have protection from your card company. If an ebay seller has emptied their Paypal account then there isn't as much likelihood.

But then that's just my opinion :D

Just to clarify this point. The new paypal rules give full protection to any buyer who uses it and does not receive their goods, there is no requirement for the retailier to have money in their paypal account before the refund. There is a thread on the ebay forum at the moment where a retailer went bust and someone still got their money back and the paypal rules.

Also if anyone recalls the long baby goods thread just before Christmas all the people there that got their claims in within 45 days also got their money back in full.

The only caveat is that paypal claims MUST be submitted within 45 days, so a dodgy company may well rely on the naivety of buyers to wait longer than this for goods and therefore lose their paypal protection.

• Just posted on another forum about bebe-amor and someone pointed me here.
Also feeling very regretful that I didn't check reviews of bebe-amor before forking out >£600 on nursery furniture 2 weeks ago. That would also mean they must have known they were taking our money with no intention of delivering.
The first we heard was after a phone call from Izziwotnot the manufacturer saying bebe-amor had gone bust.
They have our furniture and will deal direct with the public on this occasion - you guessed it - for the same price. How tight is that?!
So in future:
1)I won't pay up before "dispatch"
2)I will try harder to shop locally (I thought this company looked worthy of my cash compared to the likes of Ikea etc....how wrong was I)
3)I will use this and another websites as forewarned is forearmed.

Fingers crossed the credit card company coughs up.

Anyone tried to haggle direct with the manufacturers?

Regards.
• I don't believe it!

I really can't afford to lose the best part of £500 to these thieves.

It is a limited company so the directors will have zero liability for the debts unless they are found to have been 'wrongfully trading' whatever that means - surely they have been by taking money with blatantly no intention to deliver any goods!

Sorry - just needed to vent some anger!!!
• i totally agree with you all mr green, the director must have known about this when taking them orders. it so agrieves me as i was speaking to them about the order as i was concerned at the time as i couldnt get through on the phone and the site whent sown when i ordered! the day after they assured me a tech hiccup as i managed to order the day after, same story 3 weeks late on order of £240 cot bed, seen the liquidadtion, so furious. i can only suggest people complain to whatever they can, at the minute i am going to write to watchdog, contact the local papers to try and name and shame, find his other business details which all sound dodgy and try to expose them to people, all i have at the minute is this address and tel, of which i get no response, the least we can do is annoy this bloke, maybe hassle his other companies. i have no protection as i just bought on a switch card. Mr Green i hope you have a serious accident. 01484641660
