Asking for money as a wedding gift

I don't generally like the idea of people asking for money as a Wedding gift, BUT I think it is fine to ask for dollars for your honeymoon - to me it just shows that the money will be spent on your honeymoon and not just swallowed up with household bills etc etc. I don't think many people would have a problem with this?
It's your wedding, you do whatever feels right for you. Hope you have a lovely day.

My OH and I have been together for 12 years (exactly on our wedding day) so have everything we need.
We have decided not to make any requests with the invites, although money would be useful to go towards bigger items (like landscaping the back garden LOL) but our mothers know to let people know that's best..
I don't want to ask directly for money because I don't want anyone to feel obligated to give us anything.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I agree - the poems are awful! Although we did ask for money towards a trip to eurodisney with our kids - noone seemed to mind and most we're interested in the holiday and excited for our children. I just put a note on the invite saying if you wish to give a gift then money towards our trip to eurodisney would be very much appreicated - or something along those line. I like the line - it is your presense not presents that is wanted as a precursor to this though - wish I'd thought of that.

Im getting married in August and my future wife is in the process of making a wedding list. I, on the other hand, don't want to ask for anything. It's making me so nervous. I feel it sounds like we are actually asking for presents. I ask myself. Will people think we are being cheeky? Oh god, it's driving me crazy. :eek:Mark0

It's always a tough one - some people are offended by lists, others feel uncomfottable if there isn't one. Why not have a list and make it available on request? Most people will ask to see the list but those who prefer to choose their own gift will feel free to do so.0 -
OH got a text from one of his friends after recieving the wedding invite. He texted saying since we never had a wedding list he assumed lots of cash would suffice? :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Don't even give it a second's thought.
It is protocol to have a weddding list. Guests will expect it. Actually, if I've been invited to a wedding and the gift list doesn't come with the invite, it's a pain as then you have to start enquiring what to get.
Think about something that you would really like and then put it on the list - your family and friends will be more than happy to buy or put towards it. The more recent weddings I've been to, the bride and groom have asked for holiday vouchers for the honeymoon which seemd to work quite well, but gifts or money is just as good.
Congrats btw."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

I'm getting to the point where I prefer giving cash as couples have so much already these days that I'm sure they don't need any more toasters or ornaments."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
