Please don't take it out on the staff, trust me, the way they deal with you is enforced by the managers in the office. They are there to do a job, and it pays well for a workforce who are mostly students. I lasted just over a year, but hated the job so left. I know many staff who got told off by their managers for not being tough enough on the people they were calling, and when you make outbound calls all day the frustration can set in when there are a lot of irresponsible people unlike yourselves who won't stop burying their heads in the sand and just hang up. I'm sorry you have all had a bad experience, I must admit they are a company I'm glad to have no more dealings with. But sharpygreen, the staff aren't all morons.
All DCA staff are just bullying goons who proberbly go home and hit their partner or give the cat a good kicking.
They should all just leave and go pick litter up off the street or something - worthy of far more respect than working at a threat centre.0 -

Its not burying head...its more a case of the general public making the debt collection industry realise that it has less powers to any money off someone than the milkman does quite frankly....0 -

Not forgetting the fact that people have absolutely no obligation to speak to you, or deal with you in any way. That may explain why people kept hanging up on you.0 -
just a thought , but every time a dca calls you , get the persons name and continually call them at work and say to whoever answers that YOU are a debt collection agency and need to speak to the person regarding a SERIOUSLY large debt that will not go away ............... just a thought .....................................we all have bad days , some more than others ..................0

Hi i have had RMA ringing again to chase for nearley £4k which was declared in my Bankrupcy.I was declared Bankrupt in July 2009 and listed this amount which was a joint account with Barclays.I have since being discharged and now the phone calls and letters are starting again.RMA are saying that they are pursueing the ammount for Barclays is this true also what right do they have to pursue if i declared this in my Bankrupcy ? it was a joint account with my wife as far as we remember she didnt sign anything at the time to be added to the account, let alone sign an agreement as the amount they are chasing is an overdraft amount. Also the amount they are chasing is more than the overdraft amount was, as barclays were doing the irresponsible lending at the time and let the amount add up and up. Any advice please ????0

RMA have no respect for the people they talk to, and as for people saying "if you paid you debts you wouldnt get calls" and managers make them be harsh what a load of crap
NO ONE and i mean NO ONE should be threatened and it is illegal to do so and YOU CAN NOT contact neighbours and tell them about debts - I mean come on RMA where do you get off on rules and regulations - you clearly dont have any!
RMA chased me for a debt id paid two years ago, I wrote them a snotty letter and said if they kept threating me, I would see them in COURT - i never heard from them again
I understand mistakes are made but in such a job, you should check and check again !!!!!!! NO MISTAKES
RMA have terrible phone manners and thats if you can get through and there letters are just PURE THREATS.
What id do to go to there offices and abuse there staff, someone posted a good comment on here, keep ringing them and abusing them, say you are a debt collect :j
all i can say to people who receive letters or calls is:-
1. dont let them get to you on the phone
2. get there name in full
3. write them letters, put dates that you want replies by
4. KEEP COPIES
5. if possible record phone calls or have a witness to there abuse.
JUST DONT LET THEM GET THE BETTER OF YOU
As the world is at the moment and news recently that some DCA, RMA, IVA etc having been trading to make money over and above what they legally should, I think RMA should be the first to go :rotfl:0 -
Hello.. I'm a student at sheffieldn hallam, when I opened my student account i also got a credit card, i stupidly spent that which had a limit of £500 and i think the total debt was £587, recently i've been getting a lot of calls from RMA, i've not spoke to anyone yet but am worried that there going to demand all the money which I haven't got yet due to a mess up student finance have had, but i can settle the debt in january, i was just wondering if they would accept this as i'm a little worried reading all these posts.

I speak as a former employee of this place and quit on moral grounds. There were sadists there who seemed to enjoy screaming at people and bringing them to tears.
important things to know folks
If they failed to complete dpa questions and disclose information that breachs dpa its a major blow and they can loose there license for collecting debt. Now im not urging you to try and entrap the people into doing this however if they do explain the call has been recorded the data protection act has been breached and you want to speak to there manager.
Theres a good chance you will get the debt written off.
The rma guys had a software which managed the debts. Built into it was payment processing part which accepted a arrangement, a partial payment a "PIF" payment in full and "SIF" settlement in full
If you suggest of SIF of minimum 70% depending on the collector you may get a chance to clear it.
Rma employ skip chasers they use the electoral role to track you down so if you dont speak to them expect post
They teach there staff (no sure if its true) that the legal deffinition of harrassment is more that 3 calls in a day.
Hope this helps0
