Just found out apparently when your child reaches 5 it no longer feels the cold and no longer entiled to cwp, wot a joke. 22 years old, 5 yr old child and a damp flat from the weather. INCOME SUPPORT just know how to put a smile on my face
to be fair by the time they are 5 they are usually in school all day, so it's only mornings and evenings they are at home but not in bed. My heating goes on at 6.30am, knocks off at 8.30am, then comes on about 4pm, and off at 7.30pm. The CWP are meant for people who have to be at home all day and/or aren't mobile enough to keep moving round, as a healthy adult you don't fit that description and your 5yr old child benefits from the heating in school all day.

I also live in a cold draughty house, with single glazed windows, I wear extra clothes through the day and I help out at ds school a couple of mornings a week (so keep warm that way ;)) I have sciatica (but don't get disability benefits so no cwp) which means that sometimes I'm not very mobile, so on those days I get my hot water bottle and fleece blanket out and snuggle up on the couch. You just have to get on with it tbh.

Ive got a 2 year old and a house so damp that the council said it needed tearing down as it was un-fixable.All my belongings are ruined or severly effected by damp and my little boy has constant chest infections etc....
I dont get a CWP unless its below freezing for 7 days or more..you just have to cope.I cant afford gas everyday, its just to expensive on the meter,You just have to get extra jumpers on,socks, slippers and a dressing gown over the top and a blanket if needs be.
My little boy thinks sitting with a blanket is fun thankfully!
    Having a coke with you
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona

That info from C4 is dated 6th Jan so won't help with recent payment, I'm not sure that there is another way except by looking at temps recorded at your particular weather station.

  • Im sure alot of people wont agree but I think they should have reduced the payment to £15 and made more people entitled, Im probably biased as Im not entitled to it but find it a bit unfair when i work 2 days a week and im not even better off by as much as the payment compared to when I was on IS!!
