i dont mean to be rude, but it seems that alot of people on this thread and others seem to just to be asking the same sort of things about area being triggered several times yet never having a payment.and most of them arnt actually entitled, they seem to just be presuming they are.
Ive said this twice already but im going to say it again to say anyone else from asking - If you have NOT received a letter stating that you are entitled to cold weather payments of £25 per week where necassary, they you WONT have any payments not matter how many times your area has been triggered.
It clearly states on the government site and on the letters received by people that you DONT have to apply yourself for cold weather payments and those who are entitled will automatically be paid them where due.
Hope this doesnt offend anyone,as its not my intention at all, theres just a lot of people asking the same things over and over again!Damzel_In_Distress wrote: »Yeh i understand that, but they changed everything this year,if you have a look at the site it says what ive said, that anyone entitled under the new payments and rules etc will receive a letter with their first payment etc...
as SMC has also asked which site are you refferring to.... i too would like to have a look and try figure out if i am entitled to or not...
from what damsel in distress is saying then no i will not recieve it as i never got a letter.
however from what bignosemac1 is saying then yes i will as i get income support with disability premium.
can anyone help me as its all too confusing i think...

My husband gets incapacity benefit & DLA but that doesn't qualify him for the CWP. The only reason he gets it is because his incapacity is topped up with Income Support with the disability premium.
If you get income support with the disability premium you "should" get the CWP if it has been triggered.
As for getting a letter, we never got one saying we were entitled to the payment but we did get one about 5 days after we got the payment saying it was going in our bank? I've actually got the letter here and all it says is:
"We will pay a cold weather payment of £25.00 into the account you have told us you wish to use in the next few days.
You will get a Cold Weather Payment of £25 for every week when the average temperature is freezing or below freezing.
The Meteorological Office tells us which weeks are very cold and we use this information to decide if we should make Cold Weather Payments."
As Damzel_In_Distress says it states on the government website that you don't have to apply yourself for cold weather payments and those who are entitled will automatically be paid them where due. But it also says
"Tell your pension centre or Jobcentre Plus if you think you should have received a Cold Weather Payment but you have not had one."
Personally I would give them a ring to check if you were entitled or if you think you should have had a payment.
