Fay my landlady charges me £270 all in (no food), but we live up north where rents tend to be cheaper.

  • Back from the shops, spent 6.82 plus a pound i owed to my old bank. But put in 28pounds of change! Result. I got some cokes on great offer, a share size bottle for 57p! cheaper than buying a can. So have a couple of them for revision. Making lunch from in doors, rest of shopping is for a lasagne tomo. Ill make it tonight prob though.

Sarashs999- sending you best wishes for your family. Must be a tough time and you don’t really want to worry about money. Take it easy and try your best to be positive and help your mum get better.

Fayjmck, i think 300 a month is not unreasonable to ask for. They will have all bills included i guess..

Angelflower, made enquiries re shared ownership, waiting for call backs!

    Hello everyone

    Today:

Checked online banking - Vanquis payment still showing as not gone out so left account alone for today
Checked Pigsback - found 30 point signup with Yakult so did that
Postponed library fine (12p) until next time as had no change and didn't want to break into a £5 note
    Ate breakfast at home
Brought in bottle of juice to keep in work fridge and nabbed empty Innocent bottle from friend so can refill that daily to make sure I don't just guzzle the whole bottle of juice at once!
Brought in OOD yoghurt mixed with crinkly dry satsuma and value kiwi for mid morning snack
Brought in HM stew and HM salad from fridge for lunch - might keep salad till tomorrow as not hungry after stew
Brought in HM flapjack and apple for afternoon snack
Daily scratchcard - 10p again. I want a big win!

Directed a colleague to Martin's cheap flight finder!

Wow everyone has been really busy aready:j , back to work for me this morning and so far haven't had a minute, just taking lunchbreak and having a quick catch up.

Fay - I think around the £300 mark per person seems reasonable too.
    Reduce,re-use, recycle.

  • Hi Fay,

I have 2 lodgers (I'm in north west) and I charge £300 a month each all in no food...although they sometimes seem to think it does include food...my butter is MY BUTTER, dammit! (oookay...that's a separate issue!) my all in includes CT, utilities, cable tv in living room, wireless tinterweb & tv licence.

Hope that's helpful! I would suggest having a look on roomshare & flatmate sites like www.easyroommate.com to have a look at the going rates in your area - but bear in mind what these rates include.

Good luck, don't forget to ask for references (I'd recommend work & previous landlord), I learned the hard way about that one!!
  • Hey there thanks for that - yeah I had about 300-350 in my head - why I dont know! But will ask in the college too, seems cheeky to ask but I will do now.

House is large and rambly and the right person would fit in well, but its old and quirky and not everyones cup of tea.

No council tax involved cos we are all students - but just needed to think about it all - one we have now is a through the week guy who goes home at weekends which is ace BUT ITS NOT SO LONG TERM - but these ladies are msc students needing a place for a year - so don't want rip anyone off, but want to bust my debts a bit.

Man its busy on here today - phew!

Found 5p on the floor and put it in my jar.........

waving to you all from my desk xxxxxxxx

  • Little things I have done today...

    - checked my bank accounts
    - made a (yummy) smartprice brunch for me and the boyfriend
    - went to the shop to buy a card & present for my brother's girlfriend, setting myself a strict £10 limit and planned not to buy anything else...and stuck to it yay!
    - planning to have some of my frozen chilli for my tea :)
    - had to pay for my hotel room (at £10 for a DeVere - a bargain, I think you'll agree!) on my Switch so have transferred £10 across from my spending money account to pay for it,
    - played my free scratchcard,

    - Have converted my friend to MSE and she is hitting the site when she gets home from work, hurrah!!!

Today seems to be going fairly positively for me!! I had just about given up on a bike from freecycle but someone has emailed me to say they have a gents mountain bike if i am interested in it. I know its a fella's, but as long as it gets me from A to B and helps with the petrol costs then its great with me!

Also, i have looked into dental plan and then did a search and found out i may be able to get free dental treatment due to the low amount i earn, which is great news, as i really need to get my teeth sorted out, Although will not look forward to dentist trips.
