Hey guys
Hugs to those who need it and bigger hugs to those who need it more.
I have a question............
Enquiries for two lodgers to come and stay for a year - (msc students at college) anyone any idea of a reasonable room rate for all in no food? Late Jan to jan 2010. Would really help with the bills and help me pay off a cc in a year - so its a good incentive.
Thinking some of you might know.......everytime I work out a rate it seems too much or unreasonable. I know the expenses of the house at mo, but guaging how much extra electricity etc we would use - anyone any idea how you judge it?

Hi Fay
Not sure - it can really depend on where you live and the quality of the rooms. I suggest a couple of things:
Contact the University and find out what the going rate is.
Look at the local adverts (shop windows, local paper, gumtree) and see what they charge.
You might also want to ask the prospective tenants what they were expecting to pay.
Hope this helps

Fay, our school pay us £95 per week, this includes breakfast and an evening meal. In summer, ie july aug and sep, we get £115 a week including breakfast and evening meal.
When we used to have lodgers we used to charge them £325 a month, but i live in Winchester which is seen as an affluent area! Why not check the local paper to see how much rooms go for on there.
I would prob charge them £350 a month if it was me, thats per person.:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

Glad to be back in a routine but not happy to be back in work!
Today I have/will......- Had brekkie at home
- Brought lunch to work (including drinks, saving me £1.20 from the evil pop machine!)
- Making veggie chilli for tea to use up veg and a few tins that have lived in the cupboard for too long - will also do for lunch portions for a day or two
- Ordered flowers for mums birthday through quidco
- Checked banks online
- Get a quote for old mobile recycling
- Go to work - boooo!
- Have a NSD - don't actually need to buy anything (don't count birthday flowers) but I'm hopeless at self control
- Pay Next bill online
- Walk dog for free exercise and some fresh (if cold!) air
- chase survey voucher if it hasn't arribed today
