    I've only discovered this thread tonight so have been through my cupboards and freezer and have planned our meals for this week. It will be amazing if we stick to it but here goes;

Monday - Have had Mince, Mash, Spring Cabbage and Peas
Tuesday - Enchilladas followed by Chicken Stirfry (Have wraps and beansprouts that need using up)
Wednesday - Out for tea at friends (Chilli)
Thursday - Sausage Casserole (with carrots, onion and mushrooms) in Slow Cooker, Broccoli, Baby Roast Pots
Friday - Baked Potatoes with Cheese, Beetroot and Salad
Saturday - Prawn Curry (Quorn for me) with Rice
Sunday - MIL treating us to lunch - Yay!

Breakfasts will be toast or cereal (porridge for me and OH).
Lunches will be the usual sandwiches (soup and crackers for me), fruit, low fat cereal bars and yoghurt.

It feels really good to actually have it all written down to take the 'what's for tea' stress out of the day!

Some lovely ideas on here - I need to be more imaginitive with beans and pulses to keep the grocery bills down but OH states that he 'needs' meat!
I do slip the odd veggie night in though ;)

  • Hi Guys!

Thanks Angelnikki for starting the thread and I think starting one for a Monday would be a good idea. I have had a rough few days but have managed to meal plan the next 30 meals:eek:

Mon-Chicken, Roasties, Yorkies, Brocolli and Sweetcorn
    Tue-Lamb Stew & Dumplings
    Wed-Burger, Egg & Chips
Thurs-Chicken Goujons, Mash, Carrots & Peas
    Fri-Chilli, Rice & Salad
    Sat-Chicken Pieces & Chips/leftover salad
Sun-Lamb, Roasties, Mash, Yorkies, Cabbage, Peas & Stuffing

I am using all stuff in the freezers atm.

    Have a good week.

My menu is always heavily meat based as husband requires (demands) vast quantities of protein with every meal. It gets very frustrating at times - anyway......

Mine too - but I do manage to sneak in lots of lentils, some oats and veg to curry and chilli etc and then just add a beef stock cube to make sure it tastes meaty. And if it's chunks of meat - serve more to him and more lentils to me. ;)

Hi newlywed - it's called that in the recipe and I absolutely love it: it has baked beans and maple syrup in it and goes as follows:

Thanks, have made a note of the recipe. Unfortunately no good for the stepkids as one is allergic to beans!!

However... might try it on OH one night when they aren't with us ;)

    25g butter plus greasing
    100g caster sugar
fiely grated rind of lemon and juice
150ml milk I use half fat
    2 medium eggs separated
    25g self raising flour

Preheat the oven to 190c/375f/gas 5.
Beat the butter and sugar together.Add the lemon rind and juice beat well.
Mix the milk and egg yolks in separate bowl, then add to the butter mixture with the flour and beat well.

Whisk the egg whites until they form stiff peaks.
Fold a spoonful into the creamed mixture to loosen it then fold in the rest.
Pour into buttered 1 litre souffle dish.

Place the dish on a double layer of newspaper in a deep roasting tin.
Pour boiling water into the tin to reach halfway up the sides.
Cook for 45 minutes, until well risen and firm.

    Enjoy

Thank you so much for this you're an :A I'm going to make it on Saturday for after our evening meal - if it ever makes it to the table :D

Well, I need more than a vague plan for this meal plan lark! had a big credit card bill which is no longer at 0%. Unable to transfer, so really trying hard to pay off within a couple of months and close the a/c. Wanting to get as much as possible paid off, so really going to try hard to make what we have into as many meals as possible.

On the plus side the freezer is full. Have onions potatoes and some veg. Will have to get fruit by the weekend.

I see there is a change of date for this thread starting. Might suit me a bit better. I shop on a SUnday as a rule.

Monday: retrospectively! Had spaghetti carbonara, sort of!
Tuesday: also retrospectively, Egg, beans and toast as too much bread in the house!
    Wednesday: jacket potatoes or burgers
    Thursday: Fish Pie
    Friday:Lentil curry and spicy rice.
Saturday: Ham shank to make pea and ham soup. Maybe
Sunday: Who Knows? Roast lamb if at home or maybe go to MIL.

I have found that when I've gone into the Recipe Collection, I am sometimes just overwhelmed at all the stuff in there. I don't know where to begin and either end up giving up or wandering aimlessly and not finding much.

Would it be possible for us to have a "Recipes of the Week" weekly thread? If someone (not a clue who would be willing to do this!) was willing to pick out say 7 varying types of recipes from the collection and put up a thread (maybe each Sunday) with a link to those 7 recipes, then during the week, people can post on that thread with feedback, pictures, tips and hints for those particular recipes or maybe ideas to enhance them. It would be a good way, I think, to bring out some of these recipes without feeling like we're buried in them.

    Anyone else interested in this?

Are you offering  We have a weekly Meal Plan thread (to which I will add this thread ;) ) where many Old Stylers post their weekly plans. Take your pick from that :D

Alternativey, take the Recipe Collection thread and randomly choose a post and cook that - that'll make for interesting times at dinner :p
