I'm confused by this also - as it states
-Child Tax Credit that includes an individual element for a child or qualifying young person who is disabled or severely disabled

I do receive an element for this in my tax credits as it says disability element on the award notice but hubby also works and earns a decent wage. Would I not be eligible then?

  • Yeovilton weather station has triggered payments twice for my postcode area which is TA6, but as yet have received nothing we get income based JSA, child tax credit and have 2 children aged 2 and 4.

    What do I do?

I would give them a ring and ask. According to the DirectGov website if you receive income-based Jobseeker's Allowance and have a child under five you qualify for the cold weather payment.

You have to be receiving income support or income-based jobseekers allowance and the Child Tax Credit "individual element for a child or young person who is disabled or severely disabled" to qualify for the cold weather payment. So if your husband is working I don't think you qualify.

I think it's quite badly worded on the DirectGov website and it's easy to get confused. The way I understand it is you get the cold weather payment if you get Pension Credit or if you get income support/income-based jobseekers allowance and one of the listed pension or disabilty premiums. You also get it if you get income support/income-based jobseekers allowance and have a child under 5.

  • why are the DWP so useless just rang them and they wouldnt even tell me if payments have been triggered for my area, which I KNOW they have!!

They said to ring the Tax Credits office about it, sounds like a bit of buck passing going on to me!!

i have rang my benefit delivery office and altho it says on the list that waddington covers my postcode area they said that is only the south bank and that leconfield is my weather station, Altho not on the list, they said that waddington has a trigger but only for the DN postcodes so i take that to mean just because a station has triggered doesn't mean that all postcodes covered by that station will receive a payout.

can anyone tell me why leconfield is not on their list do you think.

AH HA i have had a look for the leconfield weather station on found the following , it is a list of new informmation been added to the cold weather payment stedule and it was done in october listing the postcodes covered as of Oct 08 and leconfield is on there, now we ust need to find a list of the triggered sites with the new stations on it.
