This is my point exactly. I'm quite upset actually over it.

My daughter is severely disabled, requires 24hr/7 days a week care.

If I didnt work and claim benefits then I qualify for £25 because it is freezing cold.

Because her daddy goes out and works we don't qualify for it?

Why? Have her disabilities improved because her daddy is working? Has she suddenly become fit and able therefore able to keep warm?

Like I said it makes me feel like she is only truly disabled & in need if her parents claim benefits.

    Hi

I agree with you. I'm disabled HRM, LRC and i'm on IB. My partner works F/T no he's not bringing a high wage in, we have no children at home. We are not entitled to any help with housing/council tax benefit. I have to pay for my prescriptions 5 different medications, dental treatment, eye tests. As I'm home all the time our heating is on a lot as being cold affects me and makes my symptoms worse.

    Ok vent over:o

It looks like some forms of ESA will trigger payments, another way to get people off IB and onto ESA? Or am I just a cynic.

You are entitled to vent - as I have done :o

Your situation nearly mirrors mine. We have to pay for everything and when a little light starts to shine for some help that we are entitled to - because the criteria here is being disabled - they say no because you are on benefits.

    What is going on?

I have to have the heating on virtually 24 hours a day. At the minute it's at 23C because it is so so cold like yourself.

For me I can put an extra jumper, more socks, move around etc.

For yourself and my daughter, it doesn't work.

Just does not seem right IB and ESA are the same thing?

We've also received a payment, postcode DH9. Ours is the Albemarle weather station which covers Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland and (I think) some of Teeside.
