Being a bit hit and miss at the moment. I really must get out of the habit of weighing myself every day. It does make me feel more depressed if my weight has fluctuated by a lb or so. I have lost about 2lb but if I am honest I haven't been making the effort to stick to it like I should. Eating with the kids means I scoff my food too quick and I am not always eating when I am hungry. Still trying not to beat myself up about it. I know I can do it I just need to try harder.
Still loving my Active on the Wii. I really enjoy it and that's something considering I loathe the gym and most exercise unless it's badminton or netball!!!!
Keep going everyone. We can do it!

I really think he's right when he says weighing yourself every day is just demoralising, I have been naughty this week and stood on the scales a few times and it hasn't helped at all! I think as women our weight can fluctuate so much, so I am really going to try and leave it now until 2 weeks when it will have been 4 weeks since my last official weigh in. I am looking at my BMI on the wii but haven't looked at my weight... and I dad have my fruit toast, it was yummy!
  • my success journal arrived yesterday ad so I'm really focused for today. I'm starting to recognise when i am full and getting better at stopping too. Not so good at the eating consciously part though :(

Can I join you as well?...

This is confession time for me, and anyone who knows me on the Internet could probably guess that I HATE giving info away but I feel that I could do with some ...what's the word...support on this.

I have always been about size 14 and tried a few diets over the years, but my weight never really bothered me seriously and anyway I hated dieting. Over the past few years my weight has been creeping up and then last year I lost my job- the start of a bad time for me which I helped myself through...by eating!

Anyway, fast forward and here I am in a job which I don't really care for (but hey, it's job) and because I've put on weight I don't have the confidence to go out to look for another one. Well, it's not just that, there were loads of other signs, clothes that you put away because you know they ain't gonna fit and avoiding looking in mirrors.

I knew I was fat but I think my light-bulb moment was when my mother told me straight. I can't remember how it came up but she did it in a kind but blunt way and even told me that I wasn't walking as well as I should. Now that really hit home, I have scoliosis and I started to see then that my overeating was affecting my health. So, yeah it was hard to hear, but if I'm honest I think that she was right and I'm glad of it.

A few weeks ago I spotted Pauls book in Asda reduced, so without really thinking about it I shoved it in my trolley. It turned out to be the workbook, so I left it for while (gotta love these delaying tactics ;)). After another couple of weeks, in moment of resolve I decided to give it a go, I saw the main book on ebay, nearly new-NOT a good sign obviously didn't work for somebody, but hey I'm nothing if not an optimist so I got it and (after another delaying tactic of a week or two) have been giving it a go.

I have to say, I like it so far, but I know that it's very early days (about 4). I like that it addresses the reasons why you overeat, and that no foods are restricted. Obviously I have various issues, I still find it hard to determine whether I'm hungry, if I'm honest I'm still a bit worried about eating anything and I also find it hard to get off the scales. Which is especially ironic when you consider that I didn't get on the scales for a year, but still, it's going better than I thought.

Anyway, I started at 12st 8lb. I know that I'm not supposed to weigh myself for two weeks but I do feel a bit lighter, but who knows?

:hello: Bayblue! Glad you've decided to join us.
Whilst we are on confessions I must admit that I've not been following the rules :o I really need to knuckle down and make a concerted effort (not my strong point) otherwise 6 months will pass and I'll be moaning about my weight again :o
Anyway today is a brand new day and a whole new start. I'll never get any different results if I keep doing the same old thing so something has to change :T

My biggest issue is eating slowly. Meal times with two kids I tend to scoff my food down. It's just not much of an opportunity for pleasure for me, to be able to savour my food. Not sure what I can do about that.......
Oh well not going to let a little thing like that get in my way.
We can be Paul McKenna buddies :D

I have to really concentrate on eating veeeery slooooowly, and sometimes when I'm at work or have to dash off somewhere, yep it has been a problem.

I've yet to go out socially, there was a meal organised for a work colleague that was meant to happen last night but it's been postponed, but that should be interesting.

I don't have too many problems leaving food on my plate because this is kind of a throwback to my childhood, we always used to be encouraged to do that. Having said that the moneysaver in me objects so I'm trying to put the right amount on my plate to start with.

Still, on all of the ways to lose weight I like the idea of this one best, if only because I can do it for life, which I know that would never be able to do with low carb, or low calorie 'diets'. I've done them before and lost the weight and just gone back to my bad habits :o.

    Best of luck everyone :).
  • I've really lost the plot over the last few days.... just not followed the rules at all. Know that I have put on weight as I can feel it in my clothes.

Anyone want to give me a kick up the backside????
