You shouldn't be ashamed of being on benefits - you have your reasons for it, and you are trying to make the best of it.
I said this because on another thread on this site I mentioned that I was on Benefits and I was ambushed and had a lot of nasty comments aimed at me.
will take a look at that link now. Wins in 09 = A vodka cocktail kit thing lol, £150 Amazon voucher.0 -

I used cloth nappies for a number of reasons too..
I had 3 in them at one point.. so saving money was of utmost importance, especially as hubby was a student and we were poor! Environmental issues were also a concern.. if Jesus had worn disposables they would STILL be lying in a landfill today... putting faeces in the bin (which is illegal and you are meant to flush faeces out of disps as well before binning them) is just gross.. the pollution element to the ground then rivers/waterways and the poisons consumed by animals and birds and carried beyond the landfills which has the potential to spread infectious diseases and kill wildlife was another issue.
Them I figured I would at one stage be using about 25 nappies a DAY.. that amounted to about 2 binbags full a WEEK!!.. gross!!
The cloth nappies could be worn by several children without falling to pieces, they were recyclable should I need to, they did not put toxic chemicals on my babies skin, they were in terms of use cheap.. probably cost about 50p a week to keep them all in nappies with 2 wash loads a week plus deterrgent and fuel. They is also a market for selling them on.. so after I had saved all that money I could STILL sell them on and get money back!
I truly lost it at one point and made my own!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Gah, ZLS, you get a lot of that on here. Makes my blood boil. Take no notice - I'm fairly certain you won't get that attitude on OS
There's no need for it - they just need to get that hot iron rod out of their nether regions and rejoin the human raceProud to be dealing with my debts :T

At the moment we put all the used nappies in the fire.
You do know they release toxic chemicals into the air don't you? They should be incinerated rather than burned in a household fire... is it ok if i join this thread - basically i'm a lazy, easily distracted so and so who uses the excuse that i work full time to come in sit down and not get back up until bedtime and my dh is not much better!
if i have to check in with what we have and haven't done it might give me the kick up the backside i need - we've had rotas on the wall, the works and everything - they just get ignored.
so please feel free to give me a hard time daily - i need it!

Its good to see you are getting everybody involved - delegate delegate delegate - it will make housework a doddle!!!!WELCOME TO THE WEEKLY FLYLADY(AND GENTS) THREAD
A new thread is starts on a Sunday evening via a link from the current thread so keep a watch out and dive in!
Make sure you read the first post carefully as it contains all the info and abbreviations that we use!
A new list is added to the 1st post every evening by pigpen our illustrious leader and by the weekend you will have been round the whole house.
Dont get stressed with the mess just try to do the list to whatever level you can manage depending on your home circumstances - work, children OH's!!!!
Even if you only manage level 1 everyday when you come back to that room next week you will find it is easier and as time goes on it becomes more manageable and you will see huge differences - I know it sounds impossible but I can vouch for the fact it works!!!
Remember your home didnt get in a mess overnight so dont expect it to get tidy in a day!! Dont try to do the whole house at once - you will tire yourself out and sicken yourself - we have all tried it!! BABYSTEPS - little and often and you will be amazed at the improvement.
POst what you have done and forget about what you missed - there is no such thing as failure on here!!!
Dont worry if you cant keep up with the thread it moves very fast just now - just pop in and post and let everybody know how you are doing!
The support, encouragement and friendship on here is simply THE BEST! ask any questions and we will give you our tuppence worth - sometimes sensible sometimes totally insane!
We dont bite - well most of us dont -have fun!!

Out of personal interest...those who use reusable nappies are there any brands that you would either recommend (or not!)?
I found the motherease ones to be rubbish.. mine wet like no tomorrow and they would leak and took FOREVER to dry and the eleastic in the legs went and they NEVER fit properly (mine were all little skinny minnies with no bottom and big chunky thighs.
I used nippa'd totsbots (so I could fasten them as tight as I wanted) and just plain old bog standard terry squares with popolini wraps.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Presentation done... still need to write a business case though... Might wait till tomorrow
Off to close blinds and curtains (hope you've all done this already - should have done it about 30 minutes ago!), then might have a bath with a book as I'm feeling creaky and tired after all this desk work!
DW finished, so really needs unloading/filters cleaning/reloading... and have to decide what to do with all the chicken (the one from the butcher had much more meat on it than the supermarket ones do  )0
