ouch Gryfon: a tuba  ... must be fun :D

The noise isn't too bad, it's just lugging the blinking thing around :rotfl:

My poor hands are cold, itchy and sore :( They don't appreciate being washed all the time. Trouble is when I do housework such as loading the washing machine etc I need to wash my hands afterwards!

Justamum...it gets expensive doesn't it! Luckily though whilst the children playing flutes etc have to buy their own instrument at the end of this school year, we get to keep loaning it. To buy one I think we'd pay about £1k  Now when she's done it for several years and is serious I may consider a second hand one, but not till then!
Fluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

SPC2 #571 - trying to get as much as possible

Also trying to download the Anne Franks series that I missed, has taken about 3 hours so far to download 1 episode!!!

Must do that myself. Putting on a decent series at 7 o'clock at night is a bit silly. I don't get a chance to sit down until 7.30 at the earliest - and anyway I listen to the Archers at 7pm :D

I'm thinking of going out to finish the front driveway - I noticed the back garden is in a serious need of some TLC, so want to start on that tomorrow, so after my coffee I'm going to do that. I need to search back and find out what else I need to be doing.

Rain clouds must have heard me because they have started to gather in readiness:rotfl:
  • morning all :hello:
    not caught up properly yet
DS my ex and MIL are off up the M25 now. i think they're going to Heathrow, so I believe that's junction 12 so they should be ok. I just hope the roads aren't icy.

safe journey vibes for DS would be appreciated again, they work so well!
once he's back I will be flying much better, with lists and all!
hugs for all who need/want them (((( )))))

I've got the cats blankets in washing now, after they're done I'll put the machine on hot with soda crystals and vinegar for a good clear out.

I was expecting my DD1 to be sounding like a cat caught in a trap when she first started the violin, but she took to it very quickly and it wasn't too bad at all. I always found music lessons at school very pointless - what's the point of trying to teach people to read music when they are not putting it to any use? My DD can read music because she's actually using it - plays in the IOM Junior Orchestra (so I don't mind that she doesn't practise every night - she's getting 2 hours every Saturday plus a lesson on Monday). I can't read a note!

My hands really suffer at this time of year! I've ordered some moisturising gloves from Avon, and should get them in a couple of weeks. I also ordered some moisturising socks (and a pair for DD1) so I'm going to look really sexy at night :rotfl:

£1k is a lot of money  I only bought a very basic violin - someone in a year above her has got one which cost £600 . I'm really impressed with the opportunities the children here get in learning music - and there are some very talented young people on this island. We went to the school concert at Christmas and a boy who is in his last year was playing a solo on the electric guitar - very, very good. He also plays clarinet and saxophone. Apparently he's going to the Northern Royal College of Music in September. The following day they had the Youth Orchestra concert, and he'd written a "concertino" for electric guitar and orchestra. It was a fusion of rock and classical and worked really well. There is a group from here (used to go to my DD1's school) who are doing quite well in America atm (Back Door Slam - you've probably never heard of them though)
