Carpet fitter is now here so I'm just scoffing some lunch so I can crack on with putting the furniture back in once he's finished.

HH62 - we all feel like you. The secret is baby steps, just do a little bit at a time and don't expect miracles. You'll get there.

    gsysezz...where do you teach?

Everywhere - we visit every class in every school from year 4 through to year 12. I'm one of the smoking education people - don't want to put the name of the organisation as don't want my boss finding out about my housework habits lol

gsysezz...ah yeah I know what you mean. My eldest is in year 5 at the moment so you've probably talked to her. I know she came home with a load of stuff.

*passes HH62 some blinkers* You need these or you'll get nothing done! I'm always getting told off for stressing about all the mess :o

Well we're being fed here and I'm actually eating :j I managed to make myself a sandwich which I haven't done for ages now. Think my depressive stage has past for the time being.

    Hey all
Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year, I'm back after being at parents home for two weeks, got very ill so slow flying at the moment, but I'm desperate to keep up witht the list this year. New Years resolution. One of them anyway. Only problem is I suddenly have looooads more stuff to put places coz my parents went a bit overboard with pressies.
Off to start on lists now, love to all

HH62 - welcome! I am copying some excellent advice from one of our flyladies on paper work... (obviously, they are talking about another flylady, not you, but I didn't want to edit it too much!!)

I really think this must be a priority job - because, clearly, you're overwhelmed at the moment - and when the paperwork is sorted you will have a better idea of what's what - this method sounds workable.

Tax - keep tax statements/Notices of coding for 7 years. Once you have your year end thing (P45/P60) you can shred any wage slips.

Bank - File in order - oldest at the back. Depends if you're going to reclaim bank charges how long you need to go back for, and whether you can get duplicate statements, for free, online.

I used to file in boxes by subject - now I have my recycled filing cabinet. Mind you, in someways that makes it a bit harder because it's slightly less accessible - good job I like filing (OMG how anal am I)

Bills - don't keep for more than a year - ie 4 gas, 4 leccy.
[/quote]...and this on tackling the rest:
don't let it get you down. Go back to Level 1 on pigpen's list for a bit, sort out your ironing into things that MUST be ironed and things that you can get away without ironing and put the latter away (it'll look smaller, you'll feel better), then divide your list up into urgent & important, non urgent but important, not important but urgent and not important and not urgent. Start with the first category and try to do two things from it. Both the categories with 'Not Important' in them can be ignored for the moment. It's best to draw this up as a grid, as things may move from one section to another (a big piece of paper with post-its is good - you can put it on the wall, and have a row of things you've done down the side). Tell us everytime you've done something, however small, as you know we'll appreciate the achievement!
I think I'd choose to start with today's room, the living room, and do it in 15-30 minute bursts with a treat after each stint. Start by taking in a bin bag, and gather up all the obvious rubbish. Do the same with anything to be recycled. If the floor is now clean, vacuum it. Remove everything that isn't supposed to be in the room and relocate it (this is what I spend a lot of time on as I have three teenagers who leave a trail of possessions behind them wherever they go!) Now, you should be seeing a difference. If you're tired, then call it quits, the room will be round again next week. Sit back and admire what you've achieved!
It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be
