  • Well, I think I've done quite well so far for my first week of flying. Thanks pigpen for the lists and everyone else for keeping me motivated. I wouldn't have done anything after work this week without the lists and this thread to see what everyone else has done/not done. I'll be struggling to do anything tomorrow as I'm out tomorrow night so I've had a blast at some of tomorrow's list tonight.

All the windows (except the kitchen as I did that last weekend) and mopping the floors have been relegated to the weekend. The rest is getting there! Next on the list - declutter the living room and tidy the desk then dust as I watch tv tonight!

When you set up a payment to the CC (or any other person/organisation) you are essentially setting up a standing order which takes up to 4 working days to arrive. The date you put in with the bank is the date it will leave your account (assuming that you have available funds), it will then take a further 2 working days to get to it's destination. A lot of these payments go into a suspense account at the other end and are then applied to your CC (or other) account based upon your reference number (mega important to get this right!!!) The last step usually happens on the day it arrives at t'other end but can update overnight hence the 4 WD guidance.

With the introduction of 'faster payments' in theory the funds could arrive the same day. Both organisations have to be signed up to this system so I would not depend upon it for time critical payments just yet. I think all SO's will use this system eventually.

If you are close to payment date it might be worth ringing up or using your debit card online to make a payment. That way the payment is usually applied within 24 hours but could take a couple of days to leave your bank account! When you pay this way round the funds are usually reserved or 'earmarked' to prevent you indvertantly drwaing them out in the mean time.

    Hope that all makes sense!

See, knew she would know... clever ol' stick you! ;)

gerturdeanna -hope you enjoy it as much as I did - try and find someone that you can verbally practise with if you can as that is the hardest thing about languages and the OU, I reckon - buena suerte

No problem with that!! OH is fluent as he lived there since he was 11!! I met him there on holiday and spent 4 years there myself. Been back here now for 7 years!! All OH's family are still out there apart from one brother in Kent, the rest are still in Almeria. I wanted to do the course so I have something on paper to say I can speak Spanish etc. and also to learn the grammer etc etc!!
Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:
