Received an email from Close saying that my (last minute) application has been accepted. They say postal confirmaton will follow in due course but that they have quite a backlog to process.

The email also says that all applictions received by the deadline have been accepted.
  • Latest update, had a phone call this morning to say that..... they HAVE got my application and massive apologies for instructing me to cancel cheque. So hopefully all is well...... watch this space.

Well done, I'm pleased for you. Received my notification of acceptance today - the 2 years to start from 21st, so I'm happy with this.

That's great - I'm pleased for you both and feel a bit more hopeful that mine might still be OK. Looking on the positive side, with interest rates so poor at least I'm not losing as much as I could have been with the cheque sitting in my current account for over 2 weeks! I'll chase it again Monday.

Good luck Claire ...hope you're as lucky as I was icon7.gif Although mine was a late submission, at least they were able to tell me within a few days that I'd been successful.
    Wins since 2009 = £17,600

    MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS
  • Hope you get good news tomorrow , Claire.

After more phone calls yesterday and today have finally heard today that they have at last found my cheque and will be dating the start of the bond from today. At least now it was worth leaving my cheque in my current account for over 2 weeks! Hope everyone still waiting to hear also has good news.
  • I applied for this 5% fixed rate account and did a BACS transfer on Jan 7th. I heard nothing from Close until I called them on Jan 20th to see if it was all going to plan. Their employee found my application, couldn't confirm when I would get the paperwork, promised to get a colleague to call me back, which they didn't do.....and that's it! They have not given very good impressions of their professionalism to a new customer. I appreciate that they may have been busy, but what did they expect when they had on offer one of the best rates at that time?!

They actually plagued me with phone calls and asked me for my phone number (), address and various other details, over the course of several calls ... all of which I'd detailed on the form! When I asked why on earth I was having to re-iterate all this, they replied that I may well have already supplied the details on the form, but they probably hadn't been scanned into the computer which is why they didn't have them to hand.

I queried why they wanted the phone number when they'd obviously rung me in the first place and they said they managed to trace it from the information they did have, but needed to confirm it

All very odd, but I certainly can't complain about lack of contact ....

  • Checked my bank today and saw to my horror that the cheque I was told to STOP (and did) because my application was supposedly lost in post, had been presented, and then reversed.
I called them and couldn't believe it when they actually had me on their system:beer: .They said they would make sure they'd received my second cheque(which was delivered by hand), and call me back, which they did and:j yes, it's been presented today. Should get confirmation paperwork within 7 days.:T They apologised profusely for all the delays and mishaps. I do have to say that they are all very polite and friendly. Shame it's taken so long to sort out, but worth it hopefully. Will keep you posted. Fingers crossed for me, and hope everyone else still waiting hears good news soon.
