Our money went out today from Natwest and Nationwide.

Yes, I'm in the same boat. I've had rather a lot of money sitting in my current account for 2 weeks to cover my cheque and despite 3 phone calls to them they are still unable to say whether they have received or if my account will be opened. I'd seen good reviews of their customer service before opening but I am not impressed by this. I know they must have been inundated but surely they could have just sent all the cheques off immediately. The trouble is at the time there were alternative bonds available but now there's nothing comparable.
Sent my application 7th January and after 4 phone calls and many e-mails, still no news. No-one can find any trace of my application, but I have been told to be patient as I am not the only one and that they are working through the applications. Told to check daily. Just wondering how many of you are still waiting and in the same situation .

Still no sign of mine going from my current account after 2 weeks. I am phoning every day and speaking to a different person each time. Been told the same, they are still going through the applications and to be patient! By the time they tell me for definite there will be no alternatives available. I would still have thought they would have logged in the cheques and be able to say if they had received mine or not.

I can't understand this and personally wouldn't stand for it ... you need to know! I'd ring again and insist on speaking to the supervisor/manager ... simply not good enough.

Posted mine on the 10th (recorded delivery) spoke to them on the 19th and they were able to confirm my application was being processed. Money taken from my A/C today, 22nd.
  • Just phoned again and was told that all the applications have been dealt with now, and mine is nowhere to be found, must be lost in post, hence I have cancelled cheque and have learnt that personal hand delivery is the only way forward from now on. Hope you have more luck Claire, but I would phone them today if you haven't already done so.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've just telephoned yet again and once more been told they are still going through the cheques and applications and told not to worry and to try again next week.
  • Thanks for replying Claire, I just don't know what to think, we have both had conflicting information. I was told that all applications had been processed and that nothing could be done as account is now closed.Looking for any alternatives but hard to come up with anything as good as that now.
  • Posted my application 9th January (see post #30 above)

Received my confirmation letter today which states the confirmation date was 20th January, which was the date the money was taken.

Letter even details how much and when the interest is payed into your nominated account.

Impressed, as mine all went smoothly.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for the rest of you.
