Poor Tallie I think falls like that frighten you as much as anything dont they.
Good luck with the shared ownership thats what my flat (the one I dont live in but still have to pay for!!) is and I wouldnt have ever been able to afford it on my own so I am very thankful for them. I think thats the only way most people will be able to afford to buy there own place now.
No baby yet by the way!!

You definately dont pay all the bills. Mine is with a housing association but is seperate from their other housing for the needy schemes if that makes sense?
I pay £224 mortgage a month to halifax (for my 50%) and £190 rent to the housing assoc (for the half of flat I borrow off them!!) In this £190 is my buildings insurance and maintenance fees for grounds and hallways and stuff. If something like the boiler or water goes wrong I just ring them and they send someone out.
They give you the option of buying further shares off of them after a year but I havent been able to afford to buy more for the minute as I am battling the debts.

Aww shame, i have noticed a few offers having been taken off tesco clubcard website recently.

When planning the London trip, you could originally buy theatre tickets with the clubcard deals, but not anymore, the same with planet hollywood.

    Tallie x

I too live in shared ownership and it has been an absolute godsend.

I bought on the open market shared ownership last year with no deposit. I have a mortgage for 60% of purchase price and housing association own the other 40%. I dont pay rent on their share but am responsible for all the bills and all the upkeep. I have an option to buy out their share at the value of the house at the time. If I had the money, now would be a great time to do it as the value of the house goes down so I would only pay 40% of the CURRENT value, and not what it was worth at the time.

Yes, house is in negative equity and could be difficult if a major repair was needed as I am totally responsible for the bills but it is still my home and I love it. I would never have otherwise have been able to purchase. Of course I am still aware that its the bank really that owns it and I answer to them but there is more security than a private landlord say.

My main advice would be ensure you can pay the mortgage you sign up to and remember to put regular money aside for house upkeep and repairs.

I used quidco for mine when there was also an offer on at RAC and got it for £12. Definitely some good cash back offers on there.
