I've enjoyed the series so far. I have to say I thought the presenter was a lot tougher on Sean and Anne-Marie than he was on the couple in the second programme.

Quite frankly I'd have given Mr 2 a darn good talking to. All the gumpf about he couldn't work on the house they bought because of not wanting friends to collect his kids from school. How feeble was that? It struck me he didn't even ask, he just assumed they wouldn't.

If he'd gone and lived in that house for a couple of weeks and cracked on with it, I'm darn sure he could have turned it round quickly, it didn't look like much work required on it to me! And him being a professional decorator as well.

I just went outside and drew the imaginary line showing what the bank owns and what I own.

I am the proud owner of the rotting shed in the garden!
    Waddle you do eh?

I was thinking the same. He could have got the job done in 10 days if he'd employed a local tradesman to help him and camped up there. Do that 4 times and he'd clear his mortgage.

Just wondered what people thought of last night pay off your mortgage with Duncan the ballet dancer?
I thought he was quite fun myself, but felt sorry for him the way Rene was having a go at him.
Sean Casey-Poole: Programme 1 in the series
  • Seemed like a nice guy (I'm a big ballet fan), sadly just not very responsible with money - £60 a month on cakes!!!!!

Fingers crossed his business venture gets off the ground. His friend/fellow dancer Claire seemed really nice and so supportive of him and also has her head screwed on better - I think he needs to keep her around if he's to make a go of anything.

I found last night entertaining and a bit frustrating. I think Rene was right to have a go.

Yes, Rene was right to have a go, and top marks for showing the friction. I think most of the people are pushing the envelope and being pushed further than they might want to go by the aim. A lot of people here are knocking the '2 year' thing, but this is a long term to make a programme over. It is innovative IMO and is a good change from the 'quick fix' shows which are ten a penny. If you dont realise that earning more means paying more tax then this show isn't for you and I for one realise that all the participants will know this. I do however think that the show needs a good quality factual website and participants blog to back it up.
  • He's the kind of person I want to shake! £60 a month on cake, albeit v. nice cake! If he really knuckled down for a few months, he could probably make a fortune with dance/fitness classes in central London but I doubt he will. I felt his new friend (?Claire) was hoping something might come out of the whole thing for her, what with the cameras being there, etc. Overall I think he might have been better on "Bank of Mum and Dad" or whatever that other programme was called. Also thought that he was the first person that the presenter was really frustrated with (all that business with red/yellow cards), although the religious builder was a close second!
  • I wish i had a dad i could tap for £1000 every other month......
  • It doesn't surprise me that they're heavily marketing the book accompanying the series at the one year mark. Somehow I don't think there's going to be as much demand for it this time next year once we get to see how many have been successful!

Not sure if I caught the preview for next week's episode correctly. Did the voiceover say that next week's lot had already made a £100K a few months into the challenge? That episiode might actually be worth watching but there's bound to be a catch and they'll have inherited it or downsized their house or something!
