    To the OP -

Which Network Area are you in? E-on seems quite expensive in the Central Networks area. Could be worth having a good look around at prices. But it does sound odd, are they controlled by the meter contractor or another timer? It could be that if they are controlled by another timer that it is not operating at the right time.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
  • I hope this helps, but I am kind of in the same way. I share a 2 bed flat with my BF, we are on electric only with storage heaters. One in the bedroom and one in the living room. Our heaters are on input 9 (top) and output 1 (lowest), so when we come home, we increase the output.

The bedroom is always fairly cool and the livingroom is warm if we keep the door shut. We have the same 8am-7pm working lifestyle and use the electrcic from 7-11pm and switch on the washing machine overnight.

Our last electric bill was £200, this was the quarter over Oct, Nov, Dec. My BF thinks that this cst is quite reasonable. Our other electric bills are usually £120 per quarter.
Lovin Boots and other bargainous places!

Yeah, this is the price i was expecting from mine. I do the same, turn the output to 4-5 between 5-11pm. then back to 1 before i go to bed. This is only one room heated but 2 storage heaters. I still think there is a prob somewhere because the price doesn't seem right. Its close to double the price you are experiencing in the same circumstances. Only one room is used 24hrs for elec excluding kitchen for fridge, cooker. strange.

On further inspection of my meters, I have a radioteleswitch and a weather watcher which has a dial with min - max. it is on max just now. Do these make any difference? I'm now freezing with these heaters switched off, got a blanket wrapped round me lol. but i can't pay £50 a wk. ridiculous.

Just trying to narrow down my elec usage. I was paying £5 a wk for elec at my old one bedroom flat with the same applications I have running at the moment. altogether it was £40 a month for gas/elec.

The only thing that is on most of the time is my pc. tv is on 2-3hrs average a night. 2 lamps are on in one room 6-7hrs a night. Nothing else is left on apart from fridge/freezer. I even sit with candles some nights.

So really the 2 storage heaters are costing me £40 a month alone. wonder if I should just use 1 storage heater.

Energy efficient say it is my turning up of the boost/output control that is costing me so much. I assumed this is how storage heaters worked? input set and heat gathered for heat to be released at convenience at night? which I have been doing. aargh, its all confusing. they are just getting switched off.

i live in a 2 bedroomed maisonette. Downstairs we have a wood burner but upstairs we have 3 storage heaters (one in each bedroom and one on landing). I have an electricity pre-payment meter and have found recently that to have just one storage heater on plus also the immersion heater on overnight every other night and of course the usual tv, kettle etc, it is costing us £5.00 per day. It is getting so costly that we have had to turn off the storage heater now, which means that upstairs is absolutley freezing!! By turning off the heater we seem to be saving £2.50 at least a day so this just shows just how much electric they eat up.

Yeah looks like im just going to have to accept the fact that they are eating the elec. Wouldn't mind as much if I had the money to pay it, or if I had alternative heating in the house. But there aint any. Duvet and brave the cold time.
