 OOh, im SO BL***Y angry with halifax  , they are just point blank ignoring my letters and sending me letters demanding my credit card payments! only this week i sent one saying that i was still having trouble.
Honestly, I am know starting to understand how people get so upset with them, Asda have been great, Tesco and natwest being ignorant too. but halifax just bombarding me with letters!:mad:Please be nice to all moneysavers!

another rant!
just received snotty letter from halifax , saying that they are sorry to hear of my current situation and that i should contact cccs..... mmm already done that and they refused to help!
halifax then recommended that i should claim on the card protection policy i have with them.... hhmmm, tried that also and 8 months later they said no!! honestly im so angry i could actually cry at the moment. just also found out that my appeal is going through too, well the dwp wont change their decision so they forwarding it to appeal IYSWIM.
I am still ill from last week and this has just really knocked me today. Please be nice to all moneysavers!

Pebbles,
Don't worry yourself about this, remember there is nothing these unsecured creditors can really do to you, i.e. they can't take your house etc.
I would suggest calling Sky and your mobile companies, these will often let you reduce if you can't afford even if you are in contract currently.
Halifax are a pain however don't give up. Keep going, unlike some others I believe a phone conversation with a debt management advisor at the creditors can we more helpful than a letter, just be honest with them.
Remember whatever you offer them if they take you to court the court will see this as reasonable and set up a payment plan for you that you can afford, this will not result in a CCJ on your credit file unless you do not keep to a payment plan set by the court.
Unsecured creditors like to make people believe they are powerful when it comes to their debt recovery however all rights are really with the consumer any court woudl see that you are being as reasonable as you can be.
I have worked for companies representing them at a small claims court recovering debts and am now a charted accountant.
I appreciate you are worried about your credit rating however if you already have default notices then you may have some problems there already.
Trying to get out of paying your debt under technicalities is not recommended as you did spend the money, the key is to building a good relationship with your creditors and they will be more willing to accomodate your needs, they know if you go bankrupt or IVA they will get nothing or next to nothing. They will want you to keep paying even a small amount.
The long and short of it is talk to them don't just send letters.Aug 24 - Mortgage Balance £242,040.19
Credit Card - £8,141.63 + £4,209.83

we can drop our mobiles down next month, vodafone being very very stubborn on this, come the end of the year, its payg all the way.

I have tried this, i have been down the route with them regarding my mortgage, c card etc whilst i was trying to claim on my ppi/mortgage protection, they are utterly pathetic, and did nothing but lie to me and ignore me. which is why i now refuse to deal with them unless its in writing as otherwise they actually deny speaking to me.

thats good to know, thank you

i am past caring what happens to my credit rating, that happened a long time ago. apart from our mortgage, i will never use credit again.

Im not proud of having to do what i am doing, and some of these companies have had more interest out of me over the past few years to more than cover my present debts. but i am desperate, so i need to take action. I know not everyone will agree with my actions, but i will just have to live with that. Also the companies should have made sure that their end of the agreement was fully completed.
The long and short of it is talk to them don't just send letters.
As i said above, the majority of the companies I have dealt with seem to conveniently 'lose record' or deny phone conversations, so really the best way to deal with all things like this IS in writing, then both parties are protected as no evidence can be falsified.
I appreciate your reply though, thank youPlease be nice to all moneysavers!

just had another letter put through the letter box (must have gone to the wrong house or something)
its from halifax, and its says they are accepting my token payments for now, :T so a total contrast to the other letter received also today, perhaps part of their plans are to drive customers round the bend!!:eek:Please be nice to all moneysavers!

Hi Pebbles
Ive just read through all the posts on this thread and whilst I have nothing advice wise to offer you, I did want to offer you a hug and my admiration for the way you are dealing and coping with all of this.
Financial worrys alone can keep people awake all night, but on top of that you have poor health and are looking out for your mother. I know you will come out of this and am behind you all the way

Hi Pebbles
I was going to respond to an earlier post but found you had already done it (and done it nicely) in post #95.
I'm impressed by how much you have taken on board as this thread has developed. I haven't contributed since early January, but have taken a look from time to time.
I don't want to sound patronising but I think you're doing really well!0 -

thank you very much fatbelly, the last 2 posts above this (not inc mine of course!) have really helped today. i am quite touched
its certainly been a journey in the short time since i started this thread to say the least. today was just a day the fight got knocked out of me by hearing about my appeal about my IB (i knew they would say no, and TBH im looking for suitable work know anyway), halifax and not being well.
what else made my blood boil today was seeing the actually report from the PCA, pee up and brewery come to mind! anyhow...
I dont want to run away from my debts, i just need some breathing space to do it in my own time whilst looking after my family also. I know some people wont agree with me CCA'ing a few of my companies, but even the ones that do not have a fully enforceable agreement, i will still pay something. I just cannot afford to pay the full amounts.
so again thankyou. and thank you to all who have helped me so far. :beer:Please be nice to all moneysavers!
