Wow great news re the mortgage rate! I'm sure you'll consider carefully what to do with it but one idea could be to save it (to use against the mortgage if needs be to get a cheaper deal - for example if you wanted to re-mortgage to a 50% mortgage not a 70% - or whatever your personal situation is with mortgage obviously!). Hope tomorrow (today?) works out well for you - I've got a BIG conversation with my boss tomorrow re my health which has me on edge - wish me luck & likewise, I'll be thinking of you xx

It'll be going towards the savings list in my first post. Our mortgage is about 40% but the secured loan takes it to about 50%. Not much chance of re-mortgaging with the DMP though!
    Good luck!

I was shattered last night and didn't have a chance to say but they postponed the decision until today.

So, today my mum found out if she was going to be seriously scaling back her hours and job or whether she got the grant that she applied for.
    She got it :j :j :j :j
This means that she's definitely got a job for three years at the salary she's at plus the standard 3% yearly increase AND is increasing her hours.
Bottom line is - she should be getting around £160 extra per month :T

    Gemmzie, that's fantastic news.
With that and the mortgage reduction, you must be feeling relieved.

Definitely and it looks like Dad has work into the Spring, considering he's self employed and in the building trade - we are relieved to say the least!
