Gemmzie's "Finding Some Balance in 2009" Diary

Options
New year so yup, new diary. Now we've cleared all the credit cards (:j for that), we are changing tact.

We're in a bit of a limbo until Monday, waiting for some news which will hugely affect the financial situation so will do a new SOA after that.

The DMP is pretty quiet and non eventful, so we're going to start claiming back charges and offering full and finals. Details to follow...

Also, as well as debt busting, we are now saving. Amounts to be confirmed based on new SOA but generally we have / are aiming for:
* New boiler - £1002 / £1500
* Mortgage overpayment - £125 / £1200 (two month's payments)
* Halifax F&F - £0 / £310 (for 30% as a start)
* Oh !!!! fund - £0 / £2275 (one month's income for dad)

The title is also about finding some balance away from the finances, which is desperately needed for all of us.
So wish us luck :)

    Just logged into internet banking to find that the mortgage is dropping from February due to the last rate drop. Another £164 a month spare! :j :j

    Wow great news re the mortgage rate! I'm sure you'll consider carefully what to do with it but one idea could be to save it (to use against the mortgage if needs be to get a cheaper deal - for example if you wanted to re-mortgage to a 50% mortgage not a 70% - or whatever your personal situation is with mortgage obviously!). Hope tomorrow (today?) works out well for you - I've got a BIG conversation with my boss tomorrow re my health which has me on edge - wish me luck & likewise, I'll be thinking of you xx
