millyscarlett wrote: »Hi there,
Just wanted to say hello! I'm a single mum of 2 kids too - mine are girls of 11 and 9. I've been getting my finances sorted too and hope to pay about £200-£250 a month off my debts. I don't get a penny from my ex at the moment ( ) as he lost his job in August. He's been doing casual stuff but I've only seen £100 since last summer:eek: So I'm thinking I should go to the CSA now as I keep asking for money but he says he doesnt have any....he can still go out with the girlfriend tho'
Anyway, I'm much better off on my own, I know where my money goes and don't waste any anymore. I've been meal planning too and only buying what I need. I'd like to get our grocery budget down as mine is £200 and that's only for 3 of us, so must try harder there!
Anyway, keep posting....will subscribe to your diary:p
Thanks for your post, yes we are better off now, much happier, we sound in the same boat hey! I just done my SOA so you guys take a look, My Mortgage is Interest only at the moment, till I can sort these Credit card Debts out then I will start paying it off.
I have just had a legal bill to for 17k was not sure were to put it as it will be put on to my house as a standing charge, It has to got to court to be assessed yet so I am hoping it will be less.. great hey!!BR on 21st December 2009.. life begins!0 -

Oh my goodness, £17k legal - do you mind me asking what that was for? Me and my ex aren't divorced yet - I thought if he wanted it then he can file for it and pay, but that wont happen as he hasn't got a penny. We've been separated nearly 2 years now so I think it's easier after 2yrs, he was the one that left me. Hope your bill comes down, that'd be lovely;)
Anyway, I'm no expert on SOAs but all I thought was your gas looks high? Unless you're in a really big house?!!!I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Its a very long story but basically ex cant see kids unsupervised and we been fighting in court the last 2 years, he says he is fit to , social services say no, and we have had reports done on him and one was 4k, as i am the kids mother and am trying to protect the kids.... i have had to go to court and fight to keep them safe, divorce i think was only 150... but he would not sign so i had to get it served!! that cost about 3K then I bought the house off him and had to give him money, he them trashed the house and i had to buy everything new, and even tho it was agreed he would leave stuff he took the lot and to fight about it in court would cost more! so I got shafted really, but hey me and kids are happy and you cant buy that at all,
thats what my Credit card debt is for... furniture and stuff, had to buy a car!! list goes on... nevermind hey!!
if your ex hubby is saine then he will just sign and it wont cost !!!!!! all!
my said he would make my life hell and he did just that.. but he did it to his kids too...BR on 21st December 2009.. life begins!0 -
Gas is high as i have a LPG tank!!!! costs 500 to fill and i spread it over the year but needs at least 2 fills a year!!BR on 21st December 2009.. life begins!0

Hi there,
Ah sorry you've gone through so much with the ex....that's awful. You can't get your head round it can you - how he'd let you go through all that as the mum of his kids? But definitely better off now eh, you sound very strong:p When you have the children you just do everything for them don't you? I know they kept me going when we split up and I wouldn't be him in a million years, I don't understand how he chose not to live with them and then moved 1 1/2 hrs away too
It does feel good though knowing I'm in control of the house and money now, and I CAN do it!!
Keep posting on your diary - even if I don't feel like it I try and update mine just so I record what I've been buying and little things I've been doing as a DFW;)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Hi,
Well what a day!!.This morning I spoke to CSA he has not paid them since 5th December so they were going to ring him and see whats gone on. they were going to get him to pay some today or if he wouldnt then do a deduction of earnings. but that means im 69 pound a week down! it could take 6 weeks she said!!
I then had to go to the hospital for a check up had dinner out spent £2.70 on that and £2 parking.Went to T's and spent £52 on food. I did get £8.50 back tho for traveling Expenses. Just lit the fire and didnt have to make tea as we had some stew at mums!BR on 21st December 2009.. life begins!0 -
