Morning all,

Dreading going back to work today - my day is busier than the busiest thing in the world (Eek!) and I have to have a chat with my Big Boss about which jobs I want to apply for [strike]come the revolution[/strike] in the restructure. The only one I'm remotely interested in doing is a promotion which she might not support me applying for, so I'm quite nervous...

I don't know what else to apply for though and don't want to choose a job that doesn't interest me. I need to be challenged at work or I get really bored and don't try I think my second option will be to option for redundancy.

Urgh.

She wasn't expecting me to go for the promotion job, and was visibly surprised (Not sure why, it's much more me than the admin jobs)

She has to think about it, as she has to recommend me for it due to it being career advancement on the back of a restructure blah blah blah. We're going to have a meeting nearer the end of the week for her to say "Yay" or "Nay". If she won't recommend me I want a written rationale tbh as my appraisals have been good and I'm damn good at what I do at the moment.

At the moment I just feel numb. I want to get it over with and know one way or the other what's happening with my life. It's all outwith my control now and that p*sses me off. You guys know me - I like an action plan and a list and to be master (mistress?) of my own destiny. Waiting for other people to decide about my life is nae use

totally understand that, a girls got to have a plan!!!

a number of people @ my ex-place of work went for (& got) advancement because of the restructure so its not unusual

fingers are crossed it works out the way you want it to

Thank you! I hope so too. At the moment I don't know how I want it to work out. It would be amazing to get this promotion (More money especially!) but if I don't get it I will either end up with my second choice (Doesn't really interest me) or with a redundancy package and then I have to think about job applications and interviews and all sorts of other nonsense.

If I do get the good job, I am going to be tied to living here for another couple of years, so I can make a real go of it and ensure that my CV looks amazing. I really want to move out of Edinburgh sooner than that.

I'm so sodding conflicted :mad:

Glad you got thro BB interview ok, first day back as well. Are there people at the promotion grade already looking for that/those job(s) or is it new for everyone?

People at the higher grade could be applying but us lowly folks are being allowed to as well, subject to approval. Pain in the bum.

And yes, just about recovered although Mr Fresian gets a really funny look on his face when you mention it :rotfl:
