Mmm that sounds nice, I love frittata. I sometimes put thinly sliced spuds in aswell and make it into a kind of spanish omelette style thing.

I made pizza tonight and it was lovely, my mum gave me a breadmaker and I used it to make the dough, I didn't trust it though so I made my own aswell, just to be on the safe side! Just as well because the breadmaker recipe came out really sloppy and sticky, I knew the mixture was too wet! 60ml of olive oil in it

    xx

Ooh, I'm not quite at the stage of making my own dough :rotfl:How does a person like my good self go about making pizza from scratch then? I think that myself and Mr Fresian could have fun making our own toppings!

I love the idea of making bread but I'm not sure it works out any cheaper than just buying bread, especially as 9 times out of 10 now I manage to find whoopsied bread anyway.

First of all, I know you're having problems with your forum access, but I can see you thanking people, so HELLO TERRI!! :hello:

I'm about to head to bed as I am ridiculously tired. Tomorrow night I'm out and about having dinner with my friend. She's impressed with my bargain hunting (We were going to go to Bella Italia for the 2for1 offer, but are now going to Zizzi for the two mains for a tenner option!) which is good as I'm very skint and want to make sure that I do all I can to be a tip-top budgeteer this month!

Wednesday will be Lemon Chicken evening (Another OS recipe to try) It's odd, but since I have started becoming a DFW and especially since I joined the Grocery Challenges, I am enjoying cooking new things more and having fun in the kitchen. It was not always thus!

Anyway, a bad book and a comfy bed is calling me. Night all :D

Nah it doesn't really if you just want sandwich bread, if you fancy something a bit posher to go with a soup or something then its nice. I reckon a loaf of hm would work out about 30/40p depending if you use value flour.

I like making my own pizza though as it tastes so much better than the shop bought ones. You'd have to look up a recipe for quantities as I just kind of do it by eye, but it's basically mixing bread flour (maybe 300g?), a half sachet of the easy bake type yeast, a tsp of salt, tsp of sugar, a sprinkle of herbs and a tbsp of olive oil.

Stir it together, make a little well in the middle, add lukewarm water, then stir in. Go easy with the water at first, or follow a recipe so you know how much you need. Bread dough needs to be 'soft' rather than sticky.

Then leave it to rise with a tea towel over it so it's about double it's size. The warmer the room the quicker it'll happen. The roll it out, if you like a thick base pizza leave it to rise again for a bit before adding the toppings, if you like it thin like I do, put your topping straight on and whack it in the oven and yum! :D

I make the tomato sauce from a few tbsp of chopped tomatoes from a tin and some tom puree whizzed up in a blender, although if I'm making a pasta dish and theres some left over I'll freeze it to use for pizza.

Oooh I have banged on a bit there haven't I lol. Sorry!

when you are in the mood to add to your kitchen appliance collection, i vote for a breadmaker.:j i got my current one on sale at tesco for about 25 quid (this was about 6 months ago, but somewhere usually has an offer on them). it makes lovely bread, but also great dough. takes the work out of it. a purist bread making person might disagree, but i love using it for pizza dough. and have a very nice recipe for it, should you ever require it! ;)

Another vote for homemade pizza. Our breadmaker does enough for two big pizzas. We usually have one for dinner and then split the rest of the dough into two. Then make two smaller pizzas and freeze with toppings on. These are then really good for lunch or a lazy dinner for one. Much better than shop bought pizza and much cheaper especially as Lidl has half price mozarella at the moment.

I got this from the Grocery Challenge recipes. If you click on it from there there is a whole thread that this is part of which has many yummy ideas.

Thanks for the link f_f. There's some good stuff on that thread ;)
