I wasn't that impressed with the ready meals I bought, they sounded lovely and were dearer than I would normally pay, but tasted very ordinary. However I was impressed with the biscuits and goodies and some really nice French Lemonade! However it's not that cheap when you are used to buying basics stuff at the supermarket, or cheap branded stuff from Farmfoods like what I am.Start Date: 27/11/2010

How did dentist go?
Aldi is great for their super 6 - 6 different fruit and/or veg at 50p each month. We got the cherries last months and they were less than at quarter of the Tesco price and loverly yum yum yum. Also got plums and made very fattening crumble double yum yum.:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
I started popping into Aldi for pet food and the super six but now also buy cereal, ham, eggs, washing up liquid, bread rolls, frozen roasts (:o) and veg. Some of their stuff isn't any cheaper so you have to keep your eyes peeled. Their moisturiser (the one that came top in some survey) is lovely and about £2!

Evening all!
Dentists went well - all she did was smooth the tooth so the broken edge wasn't as sharp. I had root treatment done in the tooth AGES ago so there is no feeling in it and there is no need to do anything to fix it at the moment. It may need a crown in the future, but as long as it's not causing me pain there is no need for further treatment. Total cost of todays Adventures In Dentistry? £2.24 :j
I didn't go to Aldi in the end, but really want to go and take advantage of the Super Six before the end of the month. I am thinking about going after work one day with Mr Fresian, but he hates supermarkets, and will be especially cranky if I'm walking around taking ages and looking at new things :rotfl:
I ended up going to Sainsbury's instead and only spent £7.67, which is pretty good for me. I got ham, bananas, bread (All basics) margarine and yoghurt (8 Muller for £2) I also bought myself a new project book for work, but Sainsbury's own brand. It was still £4.49 (!) but this is still less than the Pukka project books and saves me going to the local shopping centre tomorrow lunchtime.
Nothing else to report really, just going to catch up with my threads and then make dinner. Hope all is well with you all!0 -
Hi f_f. I can't believe how many trips you've had to make to the dentist recently! You're becoming quite a professional.
Good luck with dragging Mr Fresian round Aldi. Mr Hopeful is no supermarket fan either. I'm sure he'll have a road rage style attack with the trolley one of these daysOne step at a time0 -

PukkaStuff .... I love it.
Great news on dentist!!:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
Right, another day, another sleep closer to Friday!
My friend is taking me to CostCo tonight, so I have just thrown a massive batch of chilli in the slow cooker as I am feeding her in return for the liftLoo has been cleaned and there should be time to do the dishes before work. I'm quite productive when I put my mind to it :rotfl:
*edit* Edited to add - load of washing on too and clothes from bedroom floor in basket as they should be.
*double edit* Dishes done from this mornings cooking and washing done and hung up. Woo me!

Right, a taking stock post is needed:
Days until payday: 23
Money in "Spends Account" = £130 (Approx, got a couple of debit card things to come off)
Money in "PAD Account" = £21.00
Money in "Groceries Account" = £153.17
Money in "Entertainment Account" = £50.00
Money in purse = £9.00
This not the greatest situation to be in for me. I knew it was going to be tight this month so made a £100 PAD on payday and put it into the account I can't accessI don't want to cut my "going out money" from £50 as we have loads of Fringe shows booked and may go out for dinner etc before one or two of them. I am out for dinner tonight with my friends (Less than a tenner, local carvery!) as well.
Myself and my friend are going to do our car boot sale, but we have had trouble finding a weekend we're both free :rotfl: That's priority for both of us now so we're sorting it out later today.

Of course you won't, but don't forget to take advantage of the vouchers on here when you go out to dinner!
You are always having chilli and it makes me so jealous, it's one of my favourite meals BUT the b/f doesn't like it and it's not worth making just for me!
You look like you are doing well, even though money might be tight at least your entertainment is already paid for so that counts for something. You are so good at updating your diary, mine is languishing at the bottom of the subscribed list, haven't looked at it for weeks lol!
Have a good day

I am planning on going to Aldi tomorrow to get the last of the Super Six - the peppers are immensely cheap so if I can get there I'm going to buy a few bags of them, chop and store in the freezer as you can use from frozen.
The freezer is now jam-packed as I bought 2.1kg of mince and 2.2kg of chicken. I have bagged the mince into 5 bags and got (I think) 6 portions of chicken breasts now too. Any other meat is going to be strictly "whoopsies" only this month. If I need bread/milk I normally pop to Morrisons after work as they often have cheap meat/fish at 5pm, so that will help with the budgeting.
Famous last words, but if I'm careful and meal plan my little butt off, I should be able to salvage £50+ from the remainder of the grocery budget.
