Hello FF! Have been away in ManchesterLand watching Take That boys :T so have got a lot to catch up on on here, you have the honour of being first lol!
That is shocking that you pay that much for gas and electric??? My DD is went up to £54 a month for December and January but they've put it back down to 46 now because I got into massive credit. That's for 2 people in a 2 bed flat, with Eon and I find them fine. I don't think there's much to choose between all the energy companies though, they are all just as bad as each other!
Glad you enjoyed your weekend!
xx
You think your Gas and Electricity is bad mine has just been recalculated
at £240.00 per month, £40 per week for Gas and £20 per week for Electricity
with Scottish Power for a 4 bed semi.

Hi f_f. Have you come any closer to a decision? I did type a longish post yesterday but as i submitted it my laptop froze. In short i couldn't make the decision for you. I think this is a gut instinct situation and working out which scenario would give you the most piece of mind.
I really wish i could be more helpful xxxOne step at a time0 -
Ohhh FF I'm sorry to hear this news, just catching up now.
Also, you can claim jobseeker's which is £64 per week or something however DH's experience with them was not great!
Thursday 30th April - officially redundant
Saturday 2nd May - had telephone interview with job centre.
Tuesday 5th May - went to local job centre for benefits agency. Told this was the date of his application, and any jobseekers would be backdated.
Tuesday 12th - signed on proper
Monday 18th - started new job.
Tuesday 26th - didn't sign on (obviously). They wrote to him. He phoned them. They told him to return a form (signing off) but said he would be eligible for backdated job seekers from 5th May to 17th May.
3rd June - he gets a letter telling him he's eligible for jobseeker's but only from 2nd June!!! So it took so long to sort it out and it wasn't even back dated. Marvellous!!!
I would be tempted to stay put rather than take the money, the job market is getting worse as more and more are made redundant. Like you said, you could miss out on a huge amount of money if you don't take voluntary redundancy but I wouldn't like to think I was in this market and looking for a job.

Morning all!
Quick post pre-work as ever. I've been quite quiet (For me!) on here over the last couple of days as things sink in. I have spoken to Mr Fresian and we now have a plan:
Our ultimate plan is to move North and have a better quality of life. I want to grow veg and have chickens. I want to laugh at the cats being scared of the chickensI want to see the stars at night and wake up and see the mountains. However, to achieve this we will need to sell Fresian Towers and we're not ready. We need to redecorate most of the rooms, deep clean the place and replace the carpets (Sodding cats!) We need money to move and we need to find the perfect house. So, Le Grande Plan:
- I try and keep my job, but put Voluntary Redundancy down as one of my options in case they decide they don't want to keep me - may as well get some money from the b*ggers
- Mr Fresian is going to declutter and be my Ebay biatch - I will list, he will post etc
- Carboot money in July goes to paint etc for decorating
- We both use our contacts Up North to listen out for work - things rarely appear on the JobCentre website, it's who you know up there
- Mr Fresian may find work up there for the summer. We would only see each other every month but he would give me his wages (Mwahahha!) and keep basic pocket money
Must go to work. Yay for Friday though - bring on the thunderstorm I've been promised. I'm too pale for this weather!

ff

keep ya chin up x:j:j:j:j:j0 -
I love a plan.
Do you have a goal date for getting sorted and moving North?
We want to do the same but longer term, we have to wait for Small Boy to leave school and Grandad will never move so at least 3 years here. My number 1 criterion is water; sea or loch will do. No idea where yet though...have you narrowed your choices down a bit yet?:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. That seems like a pretty sensible plan, I guess that's what you have to do as no one on here knows your individual circumstances to give you perfect advice.
Just a thought, and it doesn't bring in a lot of money, but if Mr Fresian is home alot at the min could he supplement the income by doing daily clicks and scratchies as well as ebaying? They don't earn a massive amount, probably about 2.50 a day, but it' nice when the extra comes through as extra spending/padding money. It is a bit soul destroyng though!
A tip when you are decorating, check out the 'reduced' sections of B&Q and similar places for wallpaper and paint. I usually buy rolls of posh wallpaper from there for backing for displays in the classroom, you know the sort that you use for these 'feature walls'. Often there are loads of rolls, all with the same batch number, the last one I got was £3 a roll reduced from about 15! Also Wilkinsons is good for paint, if you have them in Scotland.
