I received a very nice letter from Scottish Power telling me that my direct debit for gas and electric for my poky two-bedroom flat will be increasing from an already horrifying £87.50 per month to £122
There is no way I'm paying that. I'm looking to switch suppliers. Has anyone got any experience with EON? They are offering £70 Quidco cashback and that's as good a reason as any to switch :rotfl:
Reasons for high bills could be:
At any one time we run my laptop, Mr Fresian's PC, flatmate's PC. All three are normally on the go at night. Flatmate also runs his laptop and telly almost constantly. He has never had to pay bills before so is a muppet about such things.
Otherwise I'm stumped.

Morning
My dual fuel with Npower has just gone up from £95 to £125 but I have been working at home since last year running a lap top and screen all day and have had the light on, made lunch and drinks using leccy and also have had to have the heating on at times as my fingers go numb if i don't. This is why mine has gone up I should think as I have been strict about only having one light on at a time and not using the gas fire. We only found out last year we had an emersion heater and it had been on since we bought the house 3 years ago:eek:.
I am considering changing suppliers too, not so much to get the bill down as IVA will get the difference but some extra cash and perks for me! Mind after the fiasco of having Sky installed last year I may not bother.
XSSave £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Hi F_F,
I pay £65 a month for my gas/elec with SP (for a poky 1 bedroom) (also work for SP - ssh) and am stumped as to why it keeps going up too! Not had any dealings with Eon, but then again I'm a wimp at changing suppliers - too much hassle!0 -

Hi Flying Fresian
Just thought I would confirm the Quidco £70 cashback offer is still on. :j
Before switching, though, I would check your usage in kWh. See what you have used over the last 12 months and pop this on to one of the comparison websites to make sure you go for the best deal.
Best of luck and if you need any more info give me a shout.

Ouch!!!!!! i'm with E.on (went back to them about 16 months ago have going to npower) pay £70 a month for the 2 & have small 3 bed house
Main reason I went to them was because they were offering a free energy monitor which became the new obsession......plus you get tesco points!

Hi f_f
I got a stinking bill this week for my electric - £595.99 in debit!! and  and
BUT, I was expecting it, as the meter reader messed up my readings - under-read by 5,000 units - mistook a 9 for a 4. Anyway, we just have to pay it, but I drastically cut down my usage over the last 3 months when I realised what was happening as I knew it would right itself eventually, so I pulled the plug on my tumble, started washing at 30, stopped filling the kettle for just one or two cuppas and switched off all the unnecessary things, like microwave, radio alarm clocks etc, dvd and wii left on standby all the time, and it has made a difference. Worked out my usage was £112 for electric (we have gas central heating so heat and water is separate) which for us is good. I think the computers running are high so maybe have words with your lodger and advise you might have to increase his rent to cover the high electric costs? :rotfl:
Re E-on though, I am not with them, but I had to switch our work gas and electric to them last year, so 4 accounts in all, and they were so helpful and efficient each time, I could not fault them in any way whatsoever so on that experience I would not hesitate to move to them. Not sure about personal accounts, but for the business one, you get your own business representative and that is who you deal with all the time, which is so much better than a call centre and a different one each time. Not sure if that would be the same for residential though.

Thanks for that Primula. I'll pass your kind comments on to our business people. :T

Hope you have found the Energy Monitor useful Lurker. A lot of people have said it has helped them reduce their electricity usage.
