TBH Shoe Gal you look like you've done pretty well to me!Think it's too easy to be hard on ourselves instead of celebrating what we have achieved. Make that plan for next year and go for it. Onwards and upwards and if at first you don't succeed and all that.

Also babe being in a couple wouldn't automatically make Xmas better. My view is different because I never expect to be with someone so whatever I do is all about me. I think that if you basically say to yourself 'I'm single' and then base your choices around what makes you happy rather than looking at other people and thinking that they have the perfect life then you'll be much more content. I'm not saying this to offend you, I think you sound lovely but if there's no man, there's no man you just have to do your own bit XX

Thanks Lula. Ooh Missy I LOVE that film. Not watching it as indulging in a bit of Elaine Page on Radio 2, my favourite pastime for a Sunday. It's not rock and roll but I like it!

Ziggles, your plans sound ace. What a great idea. Are you going to take a stack of books and DVDs and hopefully lots of yummy food and drink?? You will be so chilled and relaxed it won't be true. And from picking up bits and pieces you've said on here about your family sounds like a terrific plan. There is nothing like an unthinking word from a family member ruin the big day (says she remembering the Christmas when I was called a big pig by my mother for eating a chocolate off the tree and then overheard her telling my younger sister that I was jealous of her getting married seeing as I was over-the-hill myself.......)

:mad::eek: OMG- over the hill and jealous...lovely huh! And don't get me sarted on commentary about weight from family members!!!
Yes to all the above...can't wait i tell you! TBH i'm a bit peeved Dad didn't invite me or bro for Xmas (he's away from home) not that i would have gone but still hurts. Kinda like being the only one not invited to an carp party:rolleyes:

This not my favourite time of year - not good being single, surrounded by couples and families  I am giving myself a break from everything - and hoping to feel raring to go again soon :D
Shoegal i feel you. Turn 30 on Thursday and along with Christmas happiness brings feelings of despair at the poor state of my life re- love, happiness, weight, finances etc.:o
BUT...2010 is a whole new year so we'll shake off this one and start again and hopefully succeed in making it better than 2009 or at least die trying:D

I have lost all motivation, I feel such a failure - can't wait for this year to be over

I don't know if it's any consolation, but I'm gaining lb's quicker than Tiger Woods goes through women...ooops, am I allowed to post that on here? :o Ah well, we'll see :D

You are NOT a failure. You have paid so much off your debt this year, have adjusted your lifestyle and changed your habits to do so, whilst still having a life. That is not easy. It has taken hard work and determination. You've also been soo supportive and helpful to people posting on these forums as well as holding down a challenging job. Here's a dodgy hug from me...:grouphug:

Give yourself a break for a bit and come back fresh and fighting in 2010!

    Hey all,

Same here, can't lose a single pound, if I do, it goes back on again! Just sat tonight and ate half a Stollen cake with tea (it was a big cake)! As for being in a couple, I have an OH now, but was single for years and can't say there is much difference at Christmas (he was standby the last two years on Christmas Day), also just means spending more money on presents

I loved being single, held out til I was 33 to meet OH, if it had been 43 wouldn't have cared, would rather have waited than been with a numpty!

    Embrace your singledom :D
