I would imagine seeing 0 on the spreadsheet is indeed quite satisfying! :rotfl:
Enjoy the house viewings!0 -
BF sale progressing nicely (now that I have typed that please don't fall through)
We have viewed many house in the area we decided on and I liked the most expensive one, offer put in (after much negotiation) and accepted so tonight's plan are to finalise mortgage details, find solicitor and sort out a survey and then hopefully get the house taken of the market with both EA's
And between now and the move save lots of pennies for the moving costs/house deposit
And then the spreadsheet can start again with 6 figures :eek:Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Expensive week this week but things are starting to take shape on the BIG house
Mortgage finally sorted, what a bunch on puppets they are, wrong paperwork sent, not enough direct debit forms sent to us, lost BF bank statements, apparently they cant get in touch with the branch that stamped his statements (the mortgage is with the same bank that BF banks with so you wouldn't really expect this bit to be so hard)
Trip to the EA to have our ID approved by them
Trip to the solicitors to have our ID approved by them, handed over £300 to pay for the searches up front and lots of filled in forms
Surveyors don't need ID so £600 handed over to them to pay for the survey & mortgage valuation which should be done this week
Met with the couple we are buying from to go through the fixtures & fitting who then sprung that they cant move till August  this was after the EA told us that they could be flexible and move anytime
No news on BF sale, his buyers haven't received the survey report (from nearly 3 weeks ago) wondering if they are stalling for a reason or have lost interest, hoping they are dragging as they need to save up some money
Another week over, looking out the window at the sun at work, sweltering in the car driving home and looking at the huge pile of ironing caused by washing nearly everything in sight. Currently eyeing up the covers on the settee wondering if they will come offMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

We have been gazumped on the house sale by someone offering full asking prices, found out on Thursday night, the day the surveyor was due to go round. Luckily their EA cancelled the surveyor so we haven't lost that money. As yet no confirmation from the solicitors to see how much money we have lost there
So yesterday was spent looking at another 6 houses, 3 of them are nice but don't seem to have that "come and live here" feeling but not sure if we are still hankering over the lost house
BF's buyers finally surfaced after 4 weeks, with the news that their mortgage should be finalised next week and then contracts can be exchanged
So dilemma is do we buy a house we have already looked at or wait it out in rented in case our "dream" house comes to market (this option is hampered by BF insisting he doesn't want to rent)Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Oh Radish thats horrible for you both
How dissapointing.
Hmmmm... hard to know about next steps, as you say you could still be pining over the other house, but I wouldnt buy something as big as a house for the "sake" of it either... is renting on a short tenancy an option? or putting stuff in storage and nicking someones spare room for a while? know its not ideal and not everyones cup of tea (plus you may not want to move twice essentially!) but would be better than ending up somewhere you dont want to be?...
How long have you got to decide and when would the sale of BFs house be completed?0
