  • Hi

Firstly many thanks for helping me with my last query I have another one I'm afraid.

What happens when applying for a DRO and your son/daughter comes back to live with you due to them having marital difficulities...will this affect the DRO?

    Thank you.

At the same time i suppose you could argue that any board paid would cancel out the extra cost of gas, elec, water and food bills, so leave you roughly in the same position.

Very true, but in most circumstances if you're paying board they won't allow payments to utility bills from the person paying board, as that's essentially what board is for, to cover your increased costs..
Personally I'd say it depends on the arrangement. The DRO aren't interested in who moves in or out of the property, as in itself that wouldn't affect DRO eligibility, it would just be if their circumstances changed meaning they were no longer eligible..

  • Thank you immoral_angeluk and Orville.

Forgive me for being thick are you saying that my friend could still be eligible to get a DRO even if her son/daughter move back in with her? She has no money at all hence her applying for one and any money that she gets from the person staying would be going towards council tax, extra gas & elec etc especially as she is now going to lose her 25% discount for council tax.

    Thanks again.

Immoral is more an expert on this then me, but as long as she has £50 or less after all expenses have gone out regardless of who lives with her i don't see it being a problem. The key is the money left over at the end of the month, as you say her council tax will increase by 25% and the extra utility bils now being paid by her could well cancel it out leaving her in exactly the same position.

Exactly. The household make up doesn't matter, it's the circumstances, the income/expenditure and the overall eligibility.

  • I too am thinking of applying for a DRO, I have spoken to a really nice guy from cccs and he has sent paperwork through. Have been stuggling for months now, taking out more payday loans to extend others. My biggest loan is to provident and my biggest problem as i quite like the agent and will have to tell her face to face that i cannot pay anymore! She will be round tomorrow and im getting so stressed about it. the last 2 times i have given cheques that will bounce although agent doesnt know this yet. Has anyone else had to tell provident the same thing?
Also have 3 cheques in the moneyshop, do i let them go through and bounce? or just tell them?

Would be grateful to hear from anyone with advice or similar problem

    Thanks in advance
