I wonder if anyone could provide some advice. I was accepted last Friday on a DRO. I currently have an iphone on an o2 contract which is due for renewal in April.
Yesterday my services, all outgoing texts/calls, internet access were all blocked. So I thought maybe my direct debit hadn't come out for some reason so I rang in and paid the bill. An hour later the block was still not lifted. So I rang back and was informed that my account was blocked and will be disconnected this Friday. When I asked why I was informed that as I have a DRO the companies policy is to cancel any contract. I explained that I have no debt whatsovever with o2, have always paid ontime... but they won't budge.
I was advised that they will be disconnecting my service on Friday at 10am and if I don't ring them by then with info of my new network I would lose my number.
I am a dance instructor in the evenings and relay heavily on my phone. My number is precious and the key to my bookings.
I also said that I had paid my months bill and was told that the cannot accept the payment and I will have to contact my bank to claim this back. The whole DRO process and the bailiff attacks I have been getting was stress enough without the potential of loosing my number and future work.
Firstly how do I go about claiming the money back from my halifax (I paid with electron) and am I allowed to get a mobile phone contract?
Most stressed and upset.

I don't think there's anything to stop you applying for one
No i don't think so either. Fermi is there anyway you can find out for sure. i know you can still apply for loans but you can't go over £499.99 without then having to inform who you are getting a loan from that you are under a DRO.0 -

hi i took out a dro last year, october it think it was, but have since moved, and cant seem to find the letters yet as still havent finished unpacking. is there any way i can find out if my dro has finished? the link that was posted a few posts up, i cant get to work.
also when i went into the bank last week, they asked me if i wanted a credit card, as i have been pre approved. i said no, but hubby rekons i should have said yes, to help build my credit rating back up, and pay it in full every month, (just pay for something little on it each month) but i am unsure weather or not to get a credit card, as we are doing fine saving for what we want, but we are looking to hopefully get a mortgage in about 7-10 years, after 2we have saved about a 30% deposit, and hubby reakins that a credit card being paid full every month will help in geting a mortgate? sorry if i dont make sense, have been up too long, thanks. jade0 -

Hi all, I've been discussing my debt situation with Payplan and they have recommended we go down the DRO route. This is a bit worry to us as we've never been in financial trouble before.
I recently became unemployed with almost £10,000 worth of debt - most of which is on credit cards. Up until this I have never missed a single payment and all payment have been on time.
We have now missed two payments on all of our accounts are the phone is constantly ringing.
For the purpose of the DRO I have included ALL household income including shared benefits and child benefits - however all the debts are in my sole name so I'm not 100% sure this is right.

For me the clothing budget seems high on a monthly basis but realistically over a 12 month period, clothing 4 people and including school uniforms this will probably be right.
