We ONLY know this due to my colleague ringing them to query something else...

    Hi
Can anyone tell me the answer to this please:

I was granted a DRO in August (this year) and have just had a letter from the tax office saying that I am entitled to a refund from the year 2008/9 of £304.85. I was working at the time and obviously paid too much income tax, but have been on benefits since.

I am really worried about this as it took 3 months from start to finish to get a DRO.

Will this invalidate my DRO? Do I have to tell the IS about this?

I can't say for sure but i doubt very much if it would affect it. It's a one off payment and not a regular income so i wouldn't worry too much.

Hi Sicko - I'll try to write in English!

Firstly, you do need to check what benefits you are on. Could it be DLA (Disability Living Allowance)? Or is it just that you get 96.45 per week Income Support, which would mean that you have the disability premium added to your IS.

Either way, your Approved Intermediary should have little trouble getting you under the £50 per month surplus income limit.

    OK so far?

None of these are assets in a DRO. No bailiffs! You're safe.

You're guessing right. You are going to list your overdraft as a debt. The account would be frozen and that bank are unlikely to give you another account for some time.

Plenty others out there... A lot of us like the Co-Op. Just keep in credit in the future

elfieb i am not totally sure if it was classed as a refusal or not.
I spoke to the CAB and told him everything at the time and he passed my details on to his head office. Then i recieved a phone call asking me for all my details again, once i repeated them all to this voice on the end of the telephone, he told me i couldnt applie while i still had the life insurance and that i should surrender it, then go through the CAB again. So i am guessing it wasnt submitted, but he didnt give me his number so i could contact him directly so i dont know if this will be classed as a second submittance or not when i see the CAB again...?

Orville i will open a new account with a new bank like you sujjested and transfer everything, all my DD and social payments over to that bank, god only knows how long it will take, talking to the social is a battle unto itself! But thank you for the advice :)

I want you all to know, this place is the absolute best by a very long, long, long way indeed over any other places i have searched through! Your an absolute God send for me,and i am guessing millions of others too! Thank you :) :iloveyou: all!!!!!

It's a pleasure to help. I am very much a novice and. Can only give advice after going through the process myself. Fatbelly and immoral are the real experts :)

Managed to submit a DRO later this afternoon but have still not heard anything about the one I submitted on 7 Oct that they said was caught up in the shutdown.

And the bankruptcy search facility on the Insolvency Service site is still not working...
