Me me!! I get child benefit, I think it just went up as well, I get about £80 a month. I know because it's the only benefit I've ever had! I was delighted to find out I get free money from the government!!!

Yes, I answered the initial question of "How many contributers to this thread receive child benefit or working tax credits?" ... and then the 2nd poster twisted that to move the goalposts to fit some new agenda. And I was still cheapoI think PN means in relation to support with living expenses and not state provision that everyone is entitled to and which is paid for through taxation of earnings.

You can't imagine because you are a decent parent
- they have TV/computer consoles for keeping kids occupied!
Plus I am sure you feed your children, since I have worked at my secondary school the number of kids coming in for breakfast club (free toast) has increased massively many of them looking very underfed - I sometimes take one of my form members tracksuit jacket home and wash it due to the other kids calling how dirty it is - these are the parents I think people on here are objecting to0 -
Give me £50k right now and 100% of it will go into savings.
Give me £50k now and we'd save most of it, but push off on a nice holiday as well, I think....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

However, for the sake of completeness:
- state education to age 18, but nothing like EMA and my parents never received any WTC or similar top ups. Also we had one teacher per 30-40 kids, not one teacher + a teaching assistant for just 20 kids
- not much healthcare. Wasn't born in hospital, no midwife delivered me, have never had an operation or stayed overnight in hospital, never broken anything. I am rarely even registered with a Doctor. Visited on just two occasions for a 3-4 minute consultation in the last 20 years.
- not had an NHS dentist for 10-15 years, I rarely went anyway. Never had any braces etc, never had wisdom teeth either (so no extractions).
I was cheap to produce!
Perfection then.
Bless you you`re saving the rest of us a .....shilling or so.

Yes, but not out of choice. Similarly, I get the "Mummy, is dinner time" reminder, should I be late....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
As I understand it, this breeding was to be encouraged so that a future generation would exist to pay the pensions of the ageing population.
I put it to people that what's happened is the cost of providing this whole new larger generation is not only creating a new pyramid (they will again need MORE breeding to be done to support them), but the cost of doing so is far in excess of what any cost would have been to provide pensions to little old people who don't need all the education / housing / top up benefits / policing / social workers / further dole, etc etc that the Govt have also deemed needs to be paid out.0 -

You're comparing a child who has been listened to and encouraged to develop independence of thought, self-confidence and assertiveness with one who has had such growth at best stifled by indifference and at worst stifled by aggression or violence.0 -

My schools always had a max of 1-2 women in the office. The rest were teachers and a head teacher. Then about 6 dinner ladies, a caretaker and a caretaker's assistant. That was it. For about 1200 pupils.neverdespairgirl wrote: »
