Well im going on holiday in 3 weeks with the 600 quid ive saved from non smoking.
However im abit worried as im going to barcelona and smoking is still permitted in bars and clubs etc.
Ive been a non smoker now 7 months however im really worried im going to buckle whilst im on holiday or am i just being para??
Many congratulations C!!! :T:T:T You've done absolutely marvellously, please keep on praising yourself up and hanging onto the fact that if it weren't for you having quit, you wouldn't be able to jet off to have a wonderful holiday. Holidays do frighten folk though it's true, trouble is it's a time of relaxation, fun and all about enjoying ourselves and having others 'in our faces' with their foul smoke COULD be a problem....IF you let it. Stay strong C, you've done so darned well, have a lovely holiday but keep that resolve as strong as it's ever been. If you get the chance to sit outside and have a pint in the pubs then do so, anything to avoid throwing all you've done away! If you can come back and NOT have smoked you'll be so very, very happy - BUT - IF it went the other way you'd feel very, very regretful.Don't allow it!
All the very, very best for a good holiday and staying on the wagon.
Hi Missi, having suffered from such problems as you've described with NRTs, then please, please don't try anything similar until you've sought advice from your own GP or cessation nurse. It's never worth risking your health! Willpower may be all you need!Pleased you're happy with the widget.
Great news that you're still doing so well Daz well done! :T
You too DD!!:T
Stick with it everyone, you've all so much to be thrilled to bits about and every fag you HAVEN'T had is really making the difference in your health already! Think what it will be like in a few weeks or months.....or years time!!! :j:j:j:j:j

Thank you all for your messages, advice and support. This forum has truly been a massive help and I will definately keep coming back for tips from other posters and offer support where I can, especially if I keep this non smoking up - I will succeed!! :j
I found a good application on the NHS website that can either be saved as a widget to your desktop or downloaded to iphone if you have one. It shows a running total of the time since you gave up and amount saved so far plus tips as well.
When I think of the £140 I will save each month, that keeps me motivated and more importantly the health concerns and my daughter wanting me to give up.
Congratulations, put the money to one side and indulge yourself with something just for yourself.0 -
Hi all
Can I join you pleaseI have cut smoking down over the last week to 8 cigarettes in total over 5 days
Yesterday I had a really hard time - felt like I was going mental, wanted to scream, shout and cry, quite honestly I could have killed yesterday! (I wouldn't have but oh dear god it was close, lol)! I promised myself if I could get through the day that I would reward myself with a cigarette and cuppa before I went to bed - well I never had the cigarette! By the time I went to bed I realised I didn't want/feel like or need it so didn't bother - my first full 24 hours without a cigarette, yay me
I rewarded myself last night with a facial instead
My tongue is now returning to a lovely normal pink colour and my complexion is starting to look rosier and fresher
I'm so pleased

Well done for making a start, Jen, now all you have to do is keep it up :j:j:j:jS!!!!horpe0 -
Congratulations Jen, its amazing how quickly we realise that we don't need them.
I read the Allen Carr give up smoking book and one bit of information that stuck in my head was, don't give in to the monster inside, (the cravings) he will die eventually when you stop feeding it!!!0 -
Welcome to the thread Jen.
I hope you've found the PM I've sent, it has some helpful bits and pieces to help you see it all through. ALL of us here will be urging you on and wishing you the very best to do what you've probably wanted to do for so long. Most of us get on alright after the initial first few days, some finding it far easier than they'd ever thought possible; I do hope that's how it is for you. As you probable already know, on this thread we talk to each other, telling the others exactly how we feel, how our day has been, good or bad. Then seeing the replies of others, how they're all coping and what gives them the strength to continue, as well as any tips they've found that are useful.
If there's anything that crosses your mind which just might give you a buzz and help you through it more easily..try it out! Just never, ever be tempted to have "just one puff or just one fag" especially if you're drinking as it never works! One of our very successful members attributed her success to eating/sucking Ice Poles..and it's worked for others too!
Keep praising yourself and be proud of every second, minute and hour that you succeed as each step is HUGE and it'll be you and you alone who make it! :j
If you're a little anxious for now then why not read through some of this thread as well as the other one, you'll no doubt find some very helpful posts here. You'll also find many posts from excited members at their joy of having quit!!Stick with us Jen as we'd all love to help you to your goal of having QUIT smoking for good.
If you have any hang-up times that have stopped you from succeeding in the past, let them go and move on...to a new beginning as it CAN be done!
missi1, the Allen Carr quote about "don't give in to the monster inside, (the cravings) he will die eventually when you stop feeding it!!!" is a very good one to hold onto, take note of missi1's words, Jen! Good to see you still hard at it missi1, you're doing wonderfully well!! :T
You also Daz!!! :T Good to see you've both put your time past and means of stopping on the Title bars????! Aheemmm! Oh, silly me....you haven't!!!!

I gave up 2 months, four days, nine hours and fifteen minutes ago.
I have saved £770.64
I have not smoked 3279 cigarettes.
I had smoked for 31 years  and had reached the stage where I was on 50 a day.
I gave up using Champix http://www.champixinfo.co.uk/ and will power. I now totally rely on common sense.;)
I can now breath and taste my food and am no longer a drug addict.:DS!!!!horpe0 -

It was only when I just read the above in Sue's post that I realised I haven't actually been craving a cigarette for..........can't say exactly - at least a week?
I can't honestly say I actually feel any better, but I DO know that I am better (IYSWIM) and that very soon I will feel it.
As I always say, this thread has helped me enormously, but it's a bit quiet at times, so I sneak over to the 'alcohol' thread and that also helps. Different substance but still about beating an addiction. Although I very rarely drink, I can relate to it as I grew up with an alcoholic father and to this day it affects my life - he died years ago.
As Sue said: 'Stick with it everyone, you've all so much to be thrilled to bits about and every fag you HAVEN'T had is really making the difference in your health already! Think what it will be like in a few weeks or months.....or years time!!!'Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

Hi There, please can I join you all on this thread? I have now not smoked for 2 weeks. I have been reading this thread but I haven't joined in so far just in case I failed before now but as I've got this far I intend to carry on.
I have a wallchart in the spare bedroom showing how many days I've not smoked for and how much money I'm saving.
I smoked around 10 cigarettes a day during the week but weekends I could easily double this.
Thanks for all the help and advice on this thread, it certainly is helping me to keep going

a warm welcome Ellieseleven missi1 jen its the best desicion you will ever make and the support on here second to none , what ever you are going through vent vent vent on here rather than give in to those cravings and remember to take each day / hour at a time IT DOES GET EASIER
keep redaing posts and testomonies from those quit both long term and recently they will spur you on to stay quit
stay focuse on WHY you want to quit and have strategies for avoiding those occasions when you smoked change routines slightly if you can
i used to sit on my doorstep ALL WEATHERS nursing my fag from the rain whilst having my coffee in the morning i changed to tea for a while and went for a shower ( saved getting wet outside)
i also took long walks generaally kept myself busy before you know it those periods when all you thought about smoking get less and less
i wish you all well x x
Dont see it as giving up anything or losing a friend you ARE GAINING so much more and ditching the one thing that controls every aspect of your life free yourself0
