Hi everyone - time to catch up!

    £769.77 saved

2750 cigarettes not smoked - that is DISGUSTING!!

No sun today so I have been stuck inside catching up on a pile of paperwork etc and now, before climbing the wooden stairs, I thought I would pop back to see how you are.

Sue - so sorry to hear that you have been in hospital and do hope that you are on the mend. You were missed - very, very much!

Waccoe - so pleased to see you back :) What willpower you have. I could not go on holiday at the moment as I know that I would give in.

Last week, I came out from a hospital appointment determined to buy a packet of cigarettes .... just so miserable and needing comfort .....fed up! Went to Tescos on the way home, bought some fruit and veg and ......forgot to buy the cigarettes :rotfl:

Smoking is no longer a habit. :j

Time for book of the week (R4) so must go.

    Well done everyone :T :T :T
    I am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 2010

Good for you in deciding to 'go for it' SanFran, you'll soon be feeling so very much better and from there on, the only way is up! All the way though giving up the fags it sounds as though there are 2 great things to keep in mind.......hills and a garlic farm. :) Good luck with both, and quite seriously, the puff really does came back a lot sooner than you'd believe possible, chesty coughs too.

Hi jammy dodger, by heck I had a fair shock to see that you've got all the way to 5 months 3 weeks and a bit! That is amazing and a heck of a lot to be very proud of. :T

Well done Daz, keep hard at it. BTW, being the only one in the pib at times is sooo very much to be proud of, well done!

Thank you so much oldreekie, I'm much better now thanks, though it fair took the stuffing out of me for sure. How are you these days after yours? You're doing so very well with your quit OR, keep it up....and keep going to Tescos, it does you good obviously! :)

Everyone's doing so well. Isn't it great to know that all this is for the good of your health, it makes it all so very, very worth it and pushes you on as and when a weak moment strikes. Bear it in mind folks and fill those lungs with plenty of fresh air to push the old out.

OK I am going to do this!
I move house on the 2/3 of next month, in just a few days and as it happens I rented a house that does not allow smoking, that was the plan as I thought smoking outside was at least a good start.

But, I went to the Isle of White at the weekend, it was a beautiful day and without smoking it would have been ssssoooo much better, there were street that I could not even think about walking up because they were too steep for me, there is a garlic farm on the island that I wanted to visit but found out that after you get off the bus it is a 1/2 mile walk, and I cannot do that,,,,,,,,,crikey, all my life I kept telling myself that if ever the DR said you have 6 months I would stop,,,,,,,well without the time scale he HAS said that!!! What am I waiting for?
I know what I'm waiting for, to wake up one magical day as a non -smoker,,, I have FINALLY come to the understanding it does not happen from a chest infection (when you just want it to go away so you can enjoy smoking again)it comes from a relatively short time as a "giver uper" and that will be ME next week.
When I go back to the Isle of White next September, I WILL have enough lung capacity to walk a steep hill, and I WILL get to see the garlic farm. I will laugh at a mere 1/2 mile the way I could not so long ago. I'm 46 not 96!

Oh man...a garlic farm?!! I adore garlic...even now when I can smell it more :rotfl:

You can do this - we all can. Ignore any withdrawals and just focus on your decision to be a non-smoker :)

Oh I said that too, but I'm finding myself becoming increasingly uncomfortable when I come downstairs of a morning and my FIL has filled the downstairs of the house with his B&H smoke :( However, for now, we live in his house to allow him to keep it, so can't really say anything :naughty:

I do open all the windows when he's not looking though :rotfl:

    2 weeks, 1 day, 11 hours and 57 minutes without a cigarette...

    £15 saved...

    154 cigarettes not smoked...

And 1 day, 4 hours and 24 minutes of life saved.

    :j

I'm still using the e-cigs sometimes, but have almost given up the gum, only carrying it with me for 'emergencies'. However my fiance discovered that he was running out of cartridges on Saturday and hurriedly had to order more which still haven't arrived  I think he's doing OK with gum and lozenges though and hasn't caved yet. He's ordered a pipe version of the e-cig which I've asked if I can borrow on our wedding day if I need it. The idea of my wedding dress coupled with a droopy old-fashioned pipe tickles me no end. :D

Thanks for all the support and well wishes.

I have 13 cigarettes left and I refuse to buy anymore. Once I smoke my last one that is it.

My plan (as long as the kids cooperate) is to clear all the ashtrays, lighters and any other smoking stuff out of the house, give it a quick clean and bleach to reduce the smell, ive made a really healthy special tea, with loads of goodness thats super filling, cos i know that once i quit im gonna eat like a horse, cos smoking supresses my appetite, so hopefully i shall soon be able to eat better, then have a long soak in the bath, making myself smell lovely and an early night to make sure im not tired and grumpy tommorrow. Then get my patches ready at the side of the bed so i remember to put it on as soon as i wake up.

Im more than ready although slightly scared and apprehensive about what lies ahead. But I think its normal to feel like this.

I know its not going to be easy, but I am very stubborn and dont give in very easily. I can beat this.

Weird feeling knowing that tommorrow I will be a non smoker. Slight bit of excitement creeping in there.

I have no real plans for tommorrow, but i am gonna try and keep as busy as i possibly can, ill pop on and keep you updated.

Good for you, princesswoo...that sounds like a good plan :)

I also think the trick is to make sure that you keep on treating yourself to long baths and nice smellies, too, so that you can appreciate the new clean and sweet smelling you.
