I've quit again and lasted 2 weeks so far which is the longest i've ever lasted......I've always found it so hard i've tried the inhalator, cold turkey!, patches, champix (couldn't hack them i went a bit mental)........the first week was hell and then this past 6/7 days i've felt ok until this evening.....I was watching corrie lol and one of the characters becky had a cig in her mouth and i just ended up crying?! I really wanted one i felt awful but i've got over it now and stuck another patch on..........I'm really determined this time and i'm also reading alan carrs easy way book..... Really i'm just joining in here for support and to say well done to everybody who has quit or in the process of quitting!!
Good luck, just read threw the pages in this thread, some very good motivational posts from various members. I'm also 22, and started at the age of 16, stupidly started but had tried it at a younger age. It'll be easier to give up at a younger age the longer one smokes the harder it gets. My older mates always use to tell me to give up, and kept saying the older you get the harder it gets. After 2 weeks it will be easier and you will less worry about having a cig. Keep at it and don't tempt in!Smoke-Free since 15/11/08

:hello: Hello, I've been lurking here for a while so thought it time to say hello. I've found your posts and advice so helpful, and I'm only on day 3! I've given up probably 4 tmes before, but in hindsight I wasn't ready, and kept slipping off the wagon after some wine.
I visited the NHS nurse Friday afternoon, and then had my last cig Friday night. I was considering hiding from temptation, but on Saturday night I drank a bottle of wine, and was around 2 friends who were smoking. I got through the evening without cracking, and using 1 piece of chewing gum! Not wishing to sound smug but I was proud of myself.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for all the useful advice that I've been reading. Lots of luck all.0 -

never mind queen - get back on the smoke free bus. Tickets please.
I have now done:
19 days, 9 hours, 4 minutes and 0 seconds, which can be converted to one of these units:
1,674,240 seconds
27,904 minutes
465 hours
I used to smoke every 60-90 minutes, so going over 27 thousand minutes without a cigarette is a very long time :T :j
Calculate how long you have been nicotine free:
Go on, do it!0 -

wow i'm still awake and i could so have a fag right now ahem....... well done JenC i think i would crack right now with anybody smoking around me, thankfully my friends who are smokers are being really supportive i feel bad for them going outside to smoke but if i smelt it id grab one hopefully in a few weeks i'll be able to be around smokers and just feel good to be free rather than crave one.
Lula hula wahooo your my new inspiration lol since june?! Is it easy now then? I always imagine i'll pine after cigarettes forever...... I'm green with envy lol xxxWinging life....0 -
You've doing so well to get to day 19 stevedavis! :TI know exactly what you mean about not having realised that the craving you thought you were suffering from (Too strong a phrase really) had disappeared, until the next craving hits in and then that too goes away without you even realising it until the next comes. Even though the space between each can be quite a time, depending the company you keep etc. Great isn't it!!!
Hi and welcome adarynefoedd! Congratulations on getting to 11 days smoke-free already!!!:T That is a great achievement after 35 years!! I hope you soon feel well again and carry on with your "getting pleasant visions of not smoking"!!
Congratulations jinty!!!!! :TWe all KNOW that the first 24 hours is a heck of a milestone, we also know just how proud you felt at achieving it. I hope with all my heart that by the time you read this you'll be so excited about it being 48 hours!! All the very best for a smoke-free future, great health again and money in your pocket!!! IF you should f**l again then please don't run and hide, come on here and tell us the reasons why it happens and how you feel, give us the chance to help you NOT fail, but to get over your hiccup!!!
Good to see you nikzGfx. A quiet day at work after some wonderful work here over the last few days - tonight too I see!! You're doing a brilliant job, for others as well as yourself! Thank You!!!
Well done Tigerlilley1980 as 6 and a half days was a great time to get to!!!:T I'm so pleased you found the candy canes to help you through but I don't think I'd worry about your teeth as you won't be using them for a really long time - but even if you did - it's a far lesser 'devil' than the cigs one is!!
5 hours is good squidykins, now keep building on it and leave the past blip behind you and keep moving on. You've entered a marvellous new world, enjoy the journey through it! Good luck with a WHOLE new day tomorrow!!!:j
Good to see you back again louserendipity! Keep reading the posts daily until it hits you that you 'want' to try again! Best wishes on a healthy life ASAP!:D
Congratulations on your first fortnight Mel!!!! :TYou're doing so very, very well and that crying session on Friday has possibly done you the world of good. Re the nibbles, prepare some fresh carrots, apples, clementines, dried fruit and pop in an air-tight container to take to work and drink glassfuls of water (at home or at work). Baking cakes etc is a great distraction too, just do extra exercise as well to accommodate the results and you won't find you have such a problem with the weight!
A brilliant idea with your Morning cigarettes MoonRose77, where there's a will there's always a way!!!
Welcome aboard MrsChips! I wish you all the very best possible with you attempt to quit and stay that way. £150 on Cigs per month is a colossal amount and put that alongside your health and you have so much to QUIT for!!! As soon as you can get off the Inhalators the better as you'll then be free of any nicotine in your body at all. I'm sending a PM with ideas of what to try for the "feeling of having something in my hand", but for now, well done in your decision to stop, take it day by day and you'll soon get to know the ones you really didn't enjoy until they weren't there.
Well done on that wonderful willpower Graeme!!!
Good luck with your plan to quit on the 17th of March Mrs Jones22 and all the best for a wonderful Birthday on the 16th!! It might seem a milestone Birthday to you, so be sure to make the milestone count for two things and make QUITTING the most important things to bear in mind, age is just a number after all!!! You'll also have spring to look ahead to as well as the chubbas!!!
Thanks so much jeaniej, it means a lot to me, as does that 10 years and I've never felt more healthy since school years!!! To help with feeling heavier and bloated try more exercise as I think you'll find that'll help you, it may also be the fresher foods accounting for the feelings. Keep at it though as with not gaining ANY weight at all, you're doing marvellously!!! Congratulations on 8 weeks free of ciggies!!!:T
Fantastic advice there skintandscared, all very, very true!
Hi and welcome KatieShopstoomuch! Lasting 2 weeks so far is an amazing time and you should be so proud of yourself!!!:T Keep going whatever you do and take the great advice from Nikz!!! A warm welcome to you also JenC, 3 days is marvellous, so is not cracking under the pressure of drinking with smoking friends! :jYou've much to be proud of already!!! You too berniesmaster as 5 days already is SO very good!!
Hiya Lula!!!!! So good to see you back again! You've really done wonderfully well at quitting and staying that way, many, many congratulations indeed!!! Anytime you want to come back and spur folk on please do!!!:D
Hi queen vi. I was so sorry to hear what happened, but could also see how, for the moment, the habit came into play again with your head elsewhere. PLEASE though, don't count yourself as having failed and start over from day 1 again, just count it as being still on day 19, but having had a blip of half a fag!!!! Who on earth could call half a ciggie a failure after all you've been through?!!! NO! You just keep on going please!!:j
All the very best with the great quitting trip everyone, I'm sure you'll all love the destination as it's an amazing place to be for the rest of your life!
