Dear All cannot believe I have stopped after 35 years recalcitrant smoking!!
Got bad bad flu it would not let me smoke horrible withdrawals so now on patches 24 hour one day at a time realise it is an uphill struggle but now getting pleasant visions of not smoking,
As a side note the withdrawal from coffee was pretty bad had to give up there it is an interesting thought that if we are taken off all these substances suddenly what happens?0 -
Hi all..
Always posting when I get these ideas of quitting, then run and hide when I fail after a few hours..so I decided to wait, and I am now 24 hrs since last cig !!
Seems a bit pathetic compared to all you guys doing so great ,but for me its a milestone. :j
Hoping to be able to come back and post again tomorrow!!
I have a patch and some gum, and yesterday felt easier that previous Day 1s
xxI don't know much, but I know I love you ....<30 -
jinty, the first 24 hours is a massive step in quitting so don't underestimate what you've achieved!! That is fantastic. :j I've heard that the patches do help 'cos you can deal with the emotional withdrawal from smoking first, while the nicotine side of things will gradually decrease as you use smaller patches. Just keep busy and if you have nothing to do, read some of the posts on here right from the beginning. There's some fantastic advice, especially from Sue-UU. Hope we see you back again tomorrow with another 24 hours fag-free on the clockDMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Hi everyone! Well I am on day 6 11 hours 1minute and 11 seconds of being a non smoker. I actually think that today is the first day I have woken up and wanting a ciggie isn't the first thing I have thought about. Yay. Onwards and upwards from here. I have found that I really do miss the action of smoking and after rooting through the cupboards I found some candy canes left over from Christmas. Theey work a treat at taking the urges away but I don't think they will do my teeth much good over a period of time.
Good luck everyone! xMarried the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150 -
Afternoon everyone, I let myself down this morning, told myself I was going cold turkey today and ended up having 2 fags before the day had really started (In the car going to work). So I will try again tomorrow, saying that not smoked for the last 5 hours so not doing to bad. Good luck everyone else and I will let you know. One Poll : £16.40, Toluna : £12.00 Voucher + 24105, Points, Lightspeed : 530 points, Ipoints: 1140 Points

One thing I really found that helped was that on the day I decided to quit I made sure I had no fags in the house at all, so I threw away any I had left the night beforeDMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

hi everyone
i wasn't going to post back on here as i failed miserably at giving up
however i see i'm not the only one so came back so i have some support
i also need to give up first thing with no cigarettes in the house as it's the only way i can do it
am maybe going to try tomorrow or wednesday but i'm not in the right frame of mind today so trying not to stress over it
i really want to give up but don't see a way of doing it just now
good luck to you all ,you are inspiring me to keep at it

Happy Monday guys. Well done to all you no smokers and ((hugs)) to all who had a little blip.
Day 14 for me today :j and day 5 since I ditched the patches and went cold turkey. Friday was the worst day ever. DH asked me if it was just him in particular that I wanted to kill or the world in generalI was a total and utter horror I must admit. I ended up just heading to bed at 6pm and trying to read between sobs and snoozes. I cried my eyes out about this hellacious nicotine habit that made me feel like this but the really good thing is that I have never once since stopping the patches felt that I wanted a cig.
My biggest issue is nibbling  I am trying to stick to healthy things but at work it isnt always possble and the chocolate machine then gets visited:o
I guess the weight gain will be the lesser of the 2 evils and I can deal with that in the next few weeks. One of the distractions that I am enjoying is that I am baking again, and that brings it's own problems, we need to eat the end result:rotfl:
Have a great week all

Morning cigarettes were the hardest for me to give up so I decided that I was going to stop at midday then when I woke up the next morning I was closer to being on day 2 as a non-smoker. Might not work for everyone but for those that are struggling maybe worth a try this way instead.0
