They were gritted so hard I thought they might fall out lol. Feeling a little better now I've had the patch on a while, I might change to the 24 hour patch as in the morning I'm absolutely horrid and my poor kids are getting the brunt of it. The slightist little thing they do and I am steaming - they do not understand bless them.

Haven't had much sleep for ages so didn't take Champix this morning but have phoned the doc to speak with her over the phone - waiting to hear from her today. I had an appointment booked on the Friday with her in any case but feel I need to speak with her today.
Had a real bad time this past few weeks & am still smoke free but think I need to have my dose of tablet reduced as the sleeplessness is becoming difficult to manage. I feel okay but can't handle the no sleep thing at the moment.
Good to hear everyone's success & new people & the strength of determination of the people who are giving up for the first time & those retrying the stopping
    All the best to everyone.

Sorry, I dont really see how this would work. So youre saying that after 6 months youre going to have a cigarette? Whats the point in that? And when do you say enough is enough and dont give yourself a date that you can start smoking again?

The first point of this is to relieve smokers of the fear that they might fail when they try to quit forever.

Second, when you know that you will be allowed to smoke again in one week (for example), you're also avoiding the feeling "OMG, am I going to have this craving for the rest of my life!?".

Third, in order to change your ways in any area, you have to be convinced that this new way is better for you, and the problem with smoking is that our conscious mind knows the disadvantages of smoking, but unconsciously we still associate positive feelings with smoking. ONLY when you have stopped smoking for some time, i.e. a week or a month, do you really feel the benefits of this new way of a smoke-free life (stop caughing, saved money, enhanced taste) which then convince you. As a smoker I literally forgot how good a meal tastes, etc.

    Hope this answers your question.

i am on day 19  it goes fast, i am on the 15mg patches but take them off at night (seems to give me really bad dreams if i keep them on ) but all is ok in general. i have found when i go out drinking i find it the most difficult so i brought a inhalator & have a few pulls on that & it works:). taste awful but then so does cigarettes right ? its amazing how much you notice about other people when your not smoking yourself i counted my 2 friends Saturday when we went round for a drink & in the space of 2 hours they had 30 roll up between them . i just thought 1. thank god that is not me. i wonder if i did the same when i was with them previously smoking ? anyhoo good luck everyone speak to you soon :)

Sorry to hear you are having a bad time, but well done for not smoking. I think disturbed sleep is part of stopping smoking regardless of the champix. I have found the past 3/4 days my sleep is improving. I can't remember where you are up to I am on 21 days today.

    Hi everyone.

Not been on for a few days. Sorry to hear some of you are finding it tough. You have good and bad days, but I think it helps to remember that smoking never changes anything except to make you feel a failure and all smelly and unclean. It really is a battle of wills. I used to see Nicotine as a demon that was trying to kill me and it was up to me to win the battle for my life.

I truly think it is as serious as that. Nicotine will try to convince you that you need him, that you can always stop another day, that just one puff will not harm.............it's all lies of course. One day at a time was my method. I think telling yourself you will never smoke again puts you in a prison of rebellion. In the early days, you do still want to smoke to relieve your cravings or feelings of stress but it does pass.

I will never say never - I cannot afford to. So it's keeping my feet firmly on the path of the straight and narrow, one step at a time, one day at a time. I truly never want to pick up tobacco again.

Big hugs to you all and well done for your courage and determination. The pay off will be tremendous. Knowing you aren't wasting your life, just passing time and not really living in the present, so you can get to have a smoke is a freedom worth fighting for.

    Hey team
Just when you think you're over the cravings..............!! No, I didn't give in but they took me by surprise. Heading for two months of freedom on 17th. I'm a meter reader and am busy just now so doing a lot of driving. I am missing stopping every now and again for a fag break!!!
Having fruit and water instead, and today it was around lunchtime before I realised I hadn't even thought about cigarettes :T:T:T
Happy National N0-smoking day. Have you seen the posters with the broken chains? That's exactly how I feel now - 99% of the time.
Choille I think you should speak to the doc or the counsellor if you can. It must be very annoying and wearing not being able to sleep. People must react to the Champix in different ways. Did they say how long you should take it for?
For those in the agonising throes of first few days, try to hang on in there. It will get easier -- loads of people on this thread will vouch for that. Try to see it like a cold or flu or other short term thing. You are going to feel awful for a week or two at least.
Try to pamper and spoil yourself a little bit every day you haven't smoked or cut down massively.
I'm watching STVs 'The Hour' - there is some good demotivating stuff on there at the moment. Ewwwwwww - a huge jar of tar is what a smoker will be putting through their lungs in a year :(
