I am having an awful time as I had a row with OH and of course normally that would send me for the fags so now every nerve ending in my body is screaming for a smoke. I got hardly any sleep and am very tearful today. Trying very hard not to give in but it is hard.
I know exactly how you are feeling ameliarate, it is so difficult I find myself having arguments in my head. Today I am feeling it again, I feel stressed out, bogged down and very low I keep thinking maybe I should leave it for now but is that me talking or the nicotine/habit addiction talking - I don't know.
Thinking of you ameliarate, try to be strong.

Ha the old arguments in the head. They pass. Feeling a bit better now. Partly because nobody at work will give me a fag - barstewards.
Emma you sound like your quit is going very like mine and it is effing hard.. Some people seem to find it relatively easy, I didn't. It really is a head thing. You have to take a deep breath and CHOOSE. Do you want to be controlled or do you want to take control.
Keep going, you can do it. I have smoked for about 35 years and am now on day 20! :jWe don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0 -
I found the debating society came out and would not shut up in my first few days of quitting. After a week or so it got a bit quieter, and now I very rarely hear it.
It does go - however the addiction is telling you you cannot stay the distance, that a ciggie will makes things great, that you're not really addicted, etc
DO NOT LISTEN TO IT - it lies to you and will tell you ANYTHING for you to pick up and smoke.
Just take it an hour at a time
Good luck0 -
Thanks ameliarate and graemecarter sometimes its like i'm going mental how the hell do you argue with yourself lol
I am glad you are feeling better ameliarate, and some good work mates you have there they maybe barstewards at the moment lol I have this problem because I will say to my mum oh i've had enough give us a fag and she does!! Which makes it harder lolMum to 4 beautiful children

I think it helps knowing you are not the only one. Last time I tried to stop I couldn't believe the arguments in my head and nobody I knew seemed to understand what I was talking about.

Hello all. first post on here.. Im trying to quit :-( trying.
I ended up in hospital after passing out at home, getting told i had COPD.
Well that was just over two weeks ago. I went 6 days without a smoke. then i had two. i went another 6 days then i had another 2, then yesterday 3 and today 3. Im weak.. but I need to stop. Iv already saved £80, but what is it with me? why did i buy 10 smokes when i wasnt even craving? just missing the smoking. I smoked for 24 years. I am having one more tonight then putting the rest under the tap. anyone offer any advice.. oh iv got some niquitin minis.0 -

If you can't quit have a go with electronic cigarettes. You still feel like you're smoking but it's without all the nasties in tobacco. I'm over 5 weeks without a fag now and since switching haven't wanted to go back to tobacco at all.0 -

Hi, stopping smoking is not easy. It is not that you are weak but that the addiction is strong. You clearly must stop if you have COPD, have you had any professional advice from your nurse/GP.
Posting on here does help, sometimes for advice, sometimes just to get it off your chest, sometimes for moral support. I am lucky I have had a lot of support both on here and at home and work. On day 21 now (yay me :j) but still finding it quite hard.
I wouldn't advise the e-ciggie ( sorry woolly1) if you really want to stop because then you are still taking in nicotine and still doing the smoking thing, which is the hard bit of stopping, though clearly it must be better than smoking cigarettes.
Good luck.We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0 -
