Float all around these forums but just found this thread after doing a search.
Today it is now 1 week 12 hours since i had my last fag, i gave up using Champix, i found it quite easy, i didn't actually want to stop, but i did want to save money! I would not recommend the tablets 100% though as even though they did help me to stop it has been a living hell and i think that is what has pushed me on, i had nausea everytime i took a tablet, it made me actually sick a couple of times, i was able to push through it though, my sleep was really disturbed, drifting in and out of sleep rather than actual sleep, have been extremely short tempered with everyone around me.... eventually had enough of them on Tuesday which i think was day 14 of the tablets - felt like an absolute zombi and numb to everything that was going on around me, just wanted to go to sleep on wednesday when my partner came home from nightshift i was in tears telling him i couldn't go to work - i didn't know why i just knew i couldnt go like a mad paranoia i have never experienced i didn't take the morning tablet and i slept all day! felt a bit better on wednesday still not quite right but much better, have not taken anymore of the tablets since then as it really scared me!
On a happier note i am still a non smoker! i hope to never go back to it although tonight has seemed like a really long night and every so often it pops into my head to go for a fag to pass the time, i do also think i wonder what it would be like to just have one but no its too risky!
loving the extra money although i keep finding new ways to spend it!
Will drop in every so often to update and offer any support i can x0 -
I started on patches on Wednesday. I am on a 12 week programme with our local clinic. Last time I stopped I put on two stone (my clothes are all size 12) so bought lots of weight watchers snacks from supermarket. Tonight felt a bit restless so listened to Paul McKenna cd which I have had for a few years and never used. Things I have noticed : I feel clean, strangely as i was clean before, just ate a pear and it tasted so juicy.

Well Done Grumpybutgorgeous,
Keep at it, there will be tough times but it will be worth it, I am 1 month smoke free, admittedly on week 2 I had a couple of relapses and honestly that only makes you worse. I have been doing it cold turkey, but when I had the relapse I thought was out and the Electric Cigarette was being advertised, it is very real, and I thought, hey, this is really good, but it was giving me so much nicotine it was making want the cigarettes again, so I put that back in the handbag and it has stayed there ever since. This is about my 4th time to quit I have managed to stay off them in the past for up to 6 months at a time, but this time I have to make it permanent. You are right about the money, I have had a fiver in my purse for the last few days, normally that would be gone of a morning.
Make sure you treat yourself as well, you need to reward yourself.
Well done, sorry for the woffle LOL
Good luck

Hi everyone!
Just managed to track the thread down as it had disappeared off my subscribed list.
I quit sometime in May. It may have been the beginning or the end as I have mislaid the book I wrote it down in - either way it is definitely 5 months if not nearer 6. I am so happy!
One thing I think it is helpful to keep in mind if you are in the early days of quitting is just how difficult it is to smoke unless you are in your home, and as even smokers don't want to smoke indoors, it is a total pain to go outside (and it always seems to be raining or freezing).
I don't exactly agree with the smoking ban, but for me it is a big incentive to stay quit. I doubt we can ever go back to the days of sitting in a smoky bar enjoying a drink. It was fun, but it's over! Nothing worse than having to go outside. It's just not relaxing.
I saw someone riding a bike the other day and puffing on a roll up. Just shows how you have to smoke irrespective of how ludicrous it may seem to others!
Keep it up everyone.:)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I can remember standing outside on rainy days, huddled under a brolly, trying to keep a ciggie lit - makes me laugh now I think about it:rotfl:0
