    Hello everyone
I have an appointment at my stop smoking clinic wednesday. I only started smoking again 3 months ago after being stopped for 3 years. Stupid thing to do but there was a death in my family recently and I just went to the shop and bought 10. Felt like I didn't care at the time even though family member who died was anti smoking and would be furious if he saw me now.
I am now smoking loads again but am ready to stop. I saved so much money last time I quit and I'm back to the point of never having spare cash again!
The stupidest thing of all is that I ran a half marathon the week before all this happened, never planned to start smoking again but here I am!!
Wish me luck and good luck and well done to all of you who have kicked the habit so far!
TRYING VERY HARD TO START SAVING!

Commiserations with all you've been through bluedog, but if you can go through all that AND still achieve 8 weeks without smoking you have so very much to be proud of and I hope you are! Congratulations anyway, it's been a good time! :T I thought in a way it was so sweet of your DD to not say anything, but leave them there just in case you needed one, bless her. One way to look at the ending of the relationship though, it usually happens when another is ready to begin!

Well done Rossy! I'm glad you found us too, the more we have here the more there are to help each other AND the healthier the nation is becoming!;)

Hi Shelly and good to see you again. Almost 4 months is wonderful, you're well on your way to having achieved your goal. Keep that strength up, it's served you well. BTW, I know what you mean about the trying a puff and that it turned out to be ok with you, but with so many folk on this thread it's nearly knocked them off their track and in general is never worth the risk. Too much time for regrets afterwards.
I was wondering if anyone else had the same kind of feeling as me when i say, i dont drink, im not one for nightclubs or socialising in pubs, not a gambler so when i gave up smoking i felt like i hadn't anything else. Almost like i'd lost a friend.

It's not bizarre at all Heidi, it's the most natural thing in the world. I'm the same as you and neither DH or I drink, not ones for clubs or pubs, nor gamblers so when I let go of that one and only vice I felt just as you do, but I'm sure we'd feel exactly the same IF we were drinkers, gamblers, clubbers and anything else similar. The addiction is very friendly, the consequences are anything but!! I understand what you mean about Rossy being able to be quitting and losing weight at the same time, but I think both can run together well as to lose weight you need to work out and working out helps get rid of all stress. It also helps sweat out the toxins and the more you sweat the more water you drink and the fuller you feel. Then you get the 'feel good factor' of both combined and it can be so exhilarating. It's all things such as that which can help the two go together brilliantly, why not give it a try, but ask your Dr first if you think it would be better. Good luck either way!

Hi hattie and a warm welcome to the thread! Try not to knock yourself too much for going back, death can affect us all in very strange ways and, at the time, you reacted to grief. However, in just 3 months you've already realised it's not what you want for yourself, loved ones or for your health in general and already you're wanting to quit. Well done for you! Get your appointment done and then get back to where you were....a far healthier lifestyle! As for luck, you get plenty of that from us all here, we all want for you what you wish for!

All the very best to everyone! Another day gone and another one to cross of when today's through. Stay strong and know that no matter what, you CAN beat this and you WILL!!!:D

    Hi all,

I haven't posted for a few days as Im feeling feally really ill and run down with a cold.
Its 2 weeks today since I quit and Im still really determined but I have never felt so bloomin ill:o! The energetic bouncy feeling has gone and the sluggish bad feeling has returned, it's like riding a rollercoaster.............. but I think it's because of my cold because I defo don't want a ciggie!!!!!!

Ive turned into a recluse these last few days, I dont want to be around my friends or family that smoke, it's like they're trying to get me started again, like they've lost a smoking buddy and as a result people are treating me differently, being a bit offish, or maybe it's me being paranoid and they think I'm being funny with them, oh I don't know........... it's comments like 'Dont you think you've picked the wrong time to quit with the kids being off school!' and 'Oh you wont last long, you've tried before, you'll never do it' and here's the best ......'Are you sure you want to quit, I know loads of people that have died or have never been so ill since they quit!!!':mad:. Why can't these people be more supportive, yes they are all smokers themselves and probably hate that they can't quit but why can't they leave me alone to get on with my choice and my journey of being smokefree instead of making me feel like an outcast and trying to make me unquit????
Sorry bout that guys, Just needed to get it off my chest........ rant over now lol.

My childrens have actually said Im more calmer now( since the rattiness has passed lol) then when I smoked!! Hubby is doing fantastic and we are supporting each other, so I know we will get there................

You'd think it would get easier the longer you go without a ciggie but to me it Just seems to be getting harder, but I wont be beaten.........

    Here's hoping for a sparkly day tomorrow.............:o

Hope you are all well xxx

    Hi everyone

Just popped in to say still going strong!! Have had some tricky moments lately though where i felt like i wanted something, not necessarily a cigarette but suppose that's the habit more than anything. One tip i would give to others is to try standing near someone who has just put one out. The smell is disgusting and remind yourself that is how you used to smell! A great way to put you off ever going near one again. I can smell a smoker from 100 yards now!!

Well done everybody and good luck!
  • Hello everyone!

Kezzae, i too have felt very low sometimes just remember luv, by default ,when you feel low, you have to be on a high sometime soon. I too am quitting with my husband. Cant really believe how we both used to afford to smoke. Im amazed how much we used to spend.

Thanks Sue for your comments, im thinking of getting a swimming pass now with the money ive saved not smoking. Thinking that while im in the pool i wouldnt have a cigarette even if i still smoked. (Doing things where you wouldnt smoke anyway) Thinking there may just be loads of plus sides here.;)

Not having a bad day today despite the rain. Just realised ive only been quit for a couple of weeks, just going into my third yet it feels like longer. Seems like ages ago since i had my last cigarette.

Wishing you all lots of luck and will power x

  • I've been climbing the wallllls today!! Literally, been stripping the wall paper ready for redecorating doesn't really need doing that much just could do with being freshend up but it's really theraputic, or at least it's taking the cravings away and keeping my mind focused away from cigarettes, get the steamers and paint brushes out people!! LOL Good to hear everybody is doing well! Funky - i must do a non smoking pot as i've just been spending the money i'd usually spend on ciggies might help to see it actually collect up!
    Winging life....
